just noticed and thought i should point out, just in case it hasnt already been reported, on the home page, where it tells you the recent posts, it shows posts that have been made in threads that shouldnt be seen by the public.
we cant actually click to see the whole post, but obviously when we leave the curser over it, we get to see the first few lines.

Depends what you saw mate, as ive checked through the permissions and tested it myself and cant see anything that users shouldnt see

yeah, i saw something that seemed like it was intended for the HM forum, something irish posted, when i clicked it said i didnt have the permission or whatever message is set for that action.

Is this by chance what Spec reported (or tried to) back when he found a "glitch when being VIP on the forums" ? :) Sounds related.

Anyhow, nice spotting Ace, and thanks for bringing it to our attention... Guess we'll just have to start each post with 5 lines of "SECRET, SECRET, SECRET, SECRET,............" :D

Oh great :P Something I posted... lol I hope it wasn't in that thread about that Ace guy.... oops

Yes I can see it too, I can highlight it and read the first line of the post, and if I click on it to go to that part of the forum it says I dont have permission. anyway the first line is all I can see so the juicy stuff is still hidden :p

Hm...

Sounds like it's only that specific thread? You both see the same thread by IrishKnight ?

Ghost MacRoth

It's just 'cause the most recent new threads appear on the home page, it'd ba any new thread I believe.

Smokem

^^^ Yes thats it Ghost, it shows the newest posts there, even the ones you shouldnt see but you cant read them anyway just the first line.

Nope.

I have never seen a GL board, and I never saw a HM one till I was given access. And I use New Posts all the time.

So it doesn't report every new post.

The same thing applies to the recent poll on our front page. It also shows HM polls when you're logged in, but when you log out, it goes back to some ancient poll about biscuits or cake, because that's the latest public one. :)

So this is a clear fault. Dunno where though. It's not in the adressbar, the exclude line simply leaves out the news forum with the news bots headlines. :) Not that I'm trying to hack SOG, but I've always been one for making sure the security doesn't have leaks. :)

I think it just does it to VIP's :P

Ghost MacRoth

don't think it's 'new posts' being discussed here, it's on the homepage.

IrishKnight

They mean where it says the "Recent Forum Threads" on the page and you can highlight them to read some of them...

(lmao put the wrong name)

Tim

We are talking about the "Recent Forum Threads" box on the homepage Nico, not the "NewPosts" button in the Nav bar at the top ;)

I have noticed it before but haven't checked it lately, seems it might just be with the VIPs so far or a bug?
