View Full Version : Pro TSS?

Knowing my luck this subject has already been done to death elsewhere on the forum but my indepth 60 second search didn't show any results.

I've been floating around on a few of your servers these past two weeks and it's been a novelty to dust down the swat 4 orig CD and go for some old school tazering!
Pro server is definitely a favourite given the improved teamplay and that's the point of my thread - is there any likelihood of changing the Pro server's game to the TSS expansion?

I of course don't really know how many of your members have the expansion disk, so this may be dead in the water before finishing my post. I do appreciate you don't need me to preach all of the differences but these two sometimes mean a huge difference to my ingame experience:

Punching
Grenade launcher

Anyhoo that's my two cents. Public TSS server is fine but full of, erm, public types. It may even promote some new interest in the more serious coop players, tactics etc...?

Cheers,
Craig :D

It seems like a decent idea, Craig.

I agree that TSS has horrible players on at times, which is probably due to less of us (and less admins) playing the expansion on a regular basic, meaning less policing on the server. Sadly, that's the way it is, but I try to make a habbit of visiting our various servers ever so often, so they all get their share of cleaning. :)

However, a public server is important for us at SOG, because it allows players to come there and find out more about the clan, like our page adress and such. So I think we need the TSS public server to be there, rather than to be a close server, where the public cant go.

iSo then the solution seems to be a new server ? That's a costly affair, and since we're already struggling a little with donations, I don't think that's an option yet. :) May be, if we see donations increasing.

I believe the solution to your request is more admining on the public server. You're welcome to invite me on your xFire and call me if there's problems :) I think the same offer goes for other admins. You can see our admins here. (http://www.sog-team.co.uk/forum/showroster.php)

I hope this answers your question to some extend. :)

Would be a very good idea, maybe even an additional server if someone tells me how to host a dedicated server, i'm online almost all the day, and I hope my system would be strong enough.
Or what costs such a server (5 slots) per month? MAYBE I'll donate every month for this IF its not too expensive and IF I've the money, which is not likely. (and i prolly wont be allowed to anyway)

But there are a few things that should be considered, for example NO auto-EL-force, players must be able to vote on such a server. On a Pro game we ALWAYS plan ahead, and an auto-forced leader just sucks when noone has admin rights at that time. I'm sure noone of us will do a ban-vote, and if, the voters can be banned from the server, that wont be a problem i think.

Yeah, it seems like a good idea, but that would mean renting another server, which costs money, and since there are not too many players that play TSS, and the face that TSS is quite laggy, and that not many of our members have TSS, it wouldn't seem like the best investment to make in expanding SOG.

However, it's a thoughtful idea, and thanks for bringing it up to us :)

Maybe more people would play TSS when they will see a pistols only server. ;)
Of course, I have searched for one but nothing. So it could be the first.
Reason: The desert eagle and the automatic hadgun pistol would being 2 new gun for pistols only compared to normal swat 4.

However you got right Enders, that would cost more money for it.

Of course, I have tryed to make one for fun sometimes but it's always empty, some members tryed to connect themselves to it and it was a succes, however I can't play on it. I got some difficulties for connecting myself to it. :s

Im with Craig on this front, but our current dedicated server is maxed out on resources running 4 SWAT 4 Servers & 1 SWAT 4:TSS Server. Anymore, and it would struggle.

However with further donations we could obviously improve our services by offering another passworded server on TSS. At present due to popular demand above TSS, the only Pro server we will have for the near future is the current.

We have a job matching our target most months, but we will consider introducing new servers when we can financially afford to do so.

If we got each member who could do so donate around £10-20 a month to SOG, we could afford not only the current servers but also the same amount again!

Food for thought hey? Hint Hint ;)

well, sir... you know if i donate 10 euro's 8 will get subtracted... so likely 80% of my money goes to the trash can... so if you want 10 euro's from me.. i need to pay 50 euro's :s unless it's 8eur transfer cost instead of 80%... then it's only 18 ^_^

The only other way round it is PayPal, but as you know without one of the major credit or debit cards, it proves extremely difficult :(

Yea, thats another problem. I also could only donate via bank account...

Well, what about running a dedicated server, only during the games? Is it possible to run one on a normal PC without everyone being totaly lagged?

Well, I think it won't be worth it for me, as TSS is laggy and slow for me ..... but about donating I do when I can but it's going to be tough for my other bills lately :(
