View Full Version : Mic Troubles
Alrighty I have windows vista (I know mistake on my part), the 2 mics I have work fine on a different PC (cant use that one for swat though). When im on TS my light will blink when I blow into the mic but no one hears anything and when I blow into it on test mode its very faint. Now the sensitivity is at the most sensitive setting and all that can be heard is a faint noise any suggestions???
EDIT - Well at least my problem is solved, good luck w/yours GunChick although it is different then mine, mine would not work at all on any program. I simply uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers and works just fine.
PS > That was one crazy.......screaming...........chicken........... thing

wel i got the same prolem law...if i skype or msn voice chat then me mic work perfect.
but if i go on ts i can talk but it's like i talk underwater/or you dont hear any thing.
maby you can help me out with this treath too
If it works with other similar programs then it is a TS issue and you should then first test if it still is working fine with programs like ventrilo or mumble, and then study the difference in the settings if any and correct any difference on the TS side.
I hope that helps :)
It works now, he re-installed the drivers *Cough* Vista *Cough*...... so if you have Vista try to re-install your drivers ..... if sound is the issue and see if that works :)
Thats great TC but Gunchick also has a problem in this thread so it should stay open for a while.
Ok, np, Gun you have Vista or XP? :)
me 2, but also @ MSN it doesn't work :s
ok, just tested it with a friend of mine, i really, really just need a new mic...
u can try to change some settings in TS. klick on Settings > sound input/output settings. then u see this:
http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/1299/91087633vx6.jpg
on 1:
there u can change how loud u are for OTHERS. if u are too quiet move it.
on 2:
u can change at wat voice level teamspeak will sennd it. dont move it to near to whisper, noon want to hear u breathe the whole time.
on 3:
here u can test ur settings. click it and play around with the settings, untill u found ur settings.
and at least, if others in game are surprised too hear gamesounds via ts, check, whether u forgot this LINK (http://www.sog-team.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=4852&highlight=skype+problems)

I got one other strange problem. When I received my new dell laptop, the mic who worked on my pc with xp don't worked on this laptop. However I searched everywhere on the net but nothing found. I had just reinstalled once vista on it and then, miracle, the mic is detected...everything is working perfectly.

Well, a microfone is a device that converts audible sound into voltages. Different mics have different sensitivity, meaning how much voltage they'll respond with for a given sound, and that in return equals how loud the device that is playing the sound from the mic, in this case a computer, will play it.
The tricky thing is though, there's not a long way from high to low. So your mic may be sending the sound fine, just very low as you say, due to insufficient sensitivity.
The solution to that problem is way easier than you'd think. It doesn't involve buying a new mic for instance. Just go to your Master Sound Volume panel, or your sound cards program (which ever you prefer), and enable "Microfone Boost". That will increase the sensitivity in the sound card, when it's picking up the voltages from the mic. And that means, they'll be bigger voltages = bigger waveforms = louder sound. :)
I know it may be a bit much, so I made a 3 step guide for doing in in Windows XP ;

Hope this helps you :)
And beta ; I use push to talk. I find that to be a lot better, as I know I'm only heard when I want to be, and sometimes, if a player shouts on TS, it echoes through everybody using voice activation, and it can be quite a while before it quiets down again :p Just a hint on my part though :)
From another forum:
BHKai:
"Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Controls>Advanced>Options>Propertes>Recording(Make sure all boxes are ticked)>OK>Tick the One for microphone.
You most likely have sound out or "What you hear" option as the recording device. I use it sometimes as a way to stream music across TS.
EDIT AGAIN:
Since I use this thread a lot for audio, and some in vista. Going to add how to access from vista.
For mic control:
Start>Control Panel>Sounds>Recording>Right click>show disabled devices>double click or right click properties on the microphone>Level controls the volume that other people can hear you>Custom is for mic boost, used if level control can not get your voice high enough for others to hear you.
For playing music:
Start>Control Panel>Sounds>Recording>Right click>show disabled devices>Chose the "what you hear" or stereo mix, whatever it is called on your machine."
I got one other strange problem. When I received my new dell laptop, the mic who worked on my pc with xp don't worked on this laptop. However I searched everywhere on the net but nothing found. Maybe its a fault with Vista on Dell laptops??? As im using a dell laptop when this problem happened. But if it doesnt work again try to re-install the drivers like myself and tc suggested :)
