Welcome to Trinity's Off-Topic Haven!

This thread is a continuation of Trinity's offtopic thread which reached 200 pages today, and so I agreed for it to be closed down and started this in stead.

Do remember that all forum rules apply, so no cursing and no putting people down. *smiles*

In this thread you can chat, you can rant/seek out a discussion about things that annoy you or you are curious about or you can just post random things that you want to say.

I encourage moral and artistic debate as much as random non-essential rambling. So, go on... Have fun and do jump into any conversation you'd like. Also this thread is ingenious when wanting to get a hold of me, as I always check all posts in this thread. Do ask me anything and you will get an honest reply, like always (if the rules let me post the reply).

And so it continues. Here's to another 200 pages. :D

I definitely will start reading the old off-topic thread from the beginning again. I don't know if I'll review the whole thread, but I think it'll be fun to read our almost one-year-old posts. ;)

Congratulations to your promotion Trinity-san! A high member you are now, cool. I guess it's all thanks to your off-topic thread? :p By the way, you are using a new color for your posts, aren't you? Without marking the text, it's nearly impossible to read it (at least for me, maybe it's because I just stood up? o.o), you should consider another color.

So good luck to this thread. I think it'll reach 200 pages sooner than the first one. We will see. ^.^

Selena
16-11-07, 09:59 AM
Can you post the highlights you find here then, Asakura-sama? As I think a lot has been forgotten over the year. :sunny:

Is this colour better for you? I kinda liked the dark one, but maybe that is because I wanted something to set me into a mood.

I would ask Trinity rude questions now you said, but maybe not here eh? lol

Congrats on the new birth of this thread, and lets hope it encourages more forum posts :p

Selena

Well, let's hope Matt, can you unsticky the old one and sticky this one?

Scaring kids?? I think you may have misread matey!! It's about sexual innuendo. As in 'Ho' is also US slang for a prostitute. :p

Strangely enough, it had never struck my twisted and perverted mind that some people would believe that a fat guy with a fake beard and a red suit would be saying "ho ho ho" to children and would be thinking about prostitutes... I'm just not so stupid that I would be able to think like that. It is BEYOND me that people who come up with these obviously retarded things to change get so much publicity!

Thank you, Spec. :sunny:

I actually heard about this on a local morning news show about 2 days ago. Some politicians want to change the pronunciation of "ho" to "ha". For example, there is Hoboken, a city in the state of New Jersey. If you were to say the city's name, you'd have to say "Haboken" rather than "Hoboken". Don't these politicians got something better to do? Well, apparently, NOT. :p

I wouldn't touch SV with the sharp end of a stick. No, it's FrP's Siv Jensen. *blushes* I know that I shouldn't, but I support them. *averts her eyes* They want to rebuild our infrastructure, lessen the taxes...

Don't call me a racist, as they are not racists...

Unfortunately though... A LOT of the people who're behind that party are homophobes, and they will most likely vote against homosexuals being allowed to adopt and such, which makes me want to write a letter to Siv Jensen asking her what her opinion on the matter is, as I know she's a caring person herself. But I'm actually willing to sacrifice being treated as an equal to having a society that works better. We all have to make sacrifices, and to me it's one of the biggest.

FrP has a lot of sensible ideas they want to bring forth. One is also to strengthen our military...

I was viewing some of my favorite videos and this came up somewhere on YouTube's side panel. This video has gotten over 8 million views. See why.:p

I'm so disappointed with the American music industry when it comes to young women making videos. I don't like how they play on sex. OK, you CAN play on it when you are an established artist. You can play on it to create an image for yourself (like T.A.T.U and Madonna). It's just that so many new artists play on it to get attention. It's not about body, it's about the ability to sing and be a star in so many other ways. I have more respect for those ladies not dressing up like a complete hooker, dancing to make all male jaws drop, but actually floating on their talent to sing.

Hi M8ys,
I thought long about posting this reply to Trinity's thoughtful post.
I agree..................................
Sadly the Modern Music industry is driven by money and money only, rather than the inherent talent of the artist, this is true of the industry in UK as well as the US.
Must sell the product, yes many think of artists as products, not as individuals. That may come later if you become famous.
So sex sells videos sells musical CDs.....Profits for recording companies, managers etc...and to be honest it is not going to change anytime soon.

One reason I like to look for special talents of the kind of music that satisfy's the mind & mood of the moment.
Perhaps my musical tastes are somewhat conservative, to me one artist, sadly not with us, embodies all that is good in female singing..........Eva Cassidy (I know there are many more).
An amazing talent, a wonderful voice, true, not modern music pa say, but a modern blues tilt on old classics.....one in particular comes to mind........Over the Rainbow..(on CD Titled..... Songbird)

My other passion in music is Enigma, but thats another story.............................

Welcome to my thread Torq, nice to see some new names.

I do think there are artists who do it well without having to sink down to the "look at my body" level. Like:

Eva Cassidy - It Doesn't Matter Anymore

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pIifmwYP88

Lene Marlin - Sitting Down Here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7Q8md5rdQ4

Lisa Ekdahl - Vem Vet

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edcc3hopnH4

Norah Jones - Sunrise

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6sE1L2laCc

Katie Melua - Nine Million Bicycles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTy3WA0Pq8M

and other artists who clearly have a voice to carry them into fame.

Other then the artists I mentioned you have Enya and Celine Dion and so forth... But you see what kind of an audience these songs appeal to... A more adult one...

But there are those who change image when they need more attention, like Avril Lavigne who decided she needed to take of her clothes to promote her newest songs... Too bad really, I had some respect for her.

I do know what you mean. *shudders* Ugh, trainwreck career-wise also. Very much true today's music industry focuses more on looks rather than actual singing. One example that comes to my mind was this contestant on American Idol. (Not sure how this is connected with the music industry itself...) This guy totally sucks at singing and yet he still stays on the show just because the girls are gushing over his looks. Meanwhile, the ones that actually performed better than him are voted off. I've stopped watching American Idol since then; I've stopped watching reality shows altogether. There's no "reality" in reality shows.

Ghost MacRoth

Other then the artists I mentioned you have Enya and Celine Dion and so forth....

I object to the use of the words 'artist' and 'celine dion' being used in the same sentence.

But on a serious note, I agree with what you're all saying, indeed sex sells, but the sad thing is, the girl in the video you posted (O'Niell) couldn't 'turn on' a light bulb in my opinion. It's so fake it's actually unnatractive. And as I am getting older now, it also seems kinda creepy in a lot of ways when you have what are essentially 'kids' shaking their 'booty' at the camera. Where the hell have all the grown up women gone??? (oh, and celine dion doesn't count, she's not a woman, she is a harpy)

Oh come the *bleep* on! Celine Dion has an amazing voice. Name someone who can carry the same tunes as her!?

Ever heard her sing her Eurovision tune? Her break-through into the international market.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pEYw8PcBas

After watching this video, you can't claim it was sex appeal.. Nor the clothes, the setting or the hair or her stage persona that made her win... It was her amazing voice. Now she's learned to be an artist and entertainer... But, come on... Not many are on her level.

Hi M8ys,

Celion Deon has an extraordinary voice, i often play the echoing theme from Titantic, yes ok it's a film theme , but for me , the sadness the delight, the mood of hope rings out load and clear in her voice.
That is what i mean by mood of the moment......Not many singers can manage that.

Thanks Trinity for your YouTube Videos particularly re awakening my delight of Eva 's voice.............I must admit sadness of her passing and ohhhhhhh well ....thanks.

i have posted two themes from Enigma...........

I hope they work.....I admit not for everyone but enjoy the mood i did and still do..............................................

Oh my gawd. I just went up to eat dinner... My dad had prepared fish + +... And so I took half a potato and a piece of the fish... I started eating, and the fish was absolutely repulsive. I mean, it's the worst fish I've tasted in quite a while (though bacalao beats it)... Of course my face contorted a little bit and since my sister is seated directly in front of me, she noticed how I struggled. So she reached over while saying "what's so wrong with it?" and put a piece of the fish in her mouth. She started to chew and immediately I saw her face change. I had to laugh, I couldn't help myself. The slow chewing and still features of her face spoke volumes... And I couldn't stop laughing. She sent me numerous disapproving glances as I kept laughing.
Oh, it's a good day!

Indeed. When creating signatures, I mostly listen to soft instrumental music (for example "The Mysterious Crystal Valley" by Ken Nakagawa (http://omikron.bluelaguna.net/atelier-iris-grand-fantasm-ost-soundtrack/122%20The%20Mysterious%20Crystal%20Valley.mp3)). While listening to such music during my work, I calm down and make my mind clear, allowing me to concentrate and get some ideas on the task. :)

Trinity-san, I just read the first 25 pages of your first off-topic thread. I remember you asking me to post some "highlights"? I don't know if you can call them highlights, but I thought I should post some funny quotes from the good old times.

Girl Chat... keep out lads

(You can tell by the length of replies, otherwise you would only get a post this long for essays in college hehe)

Yeah, like they kept out! Remember our huge posts back then Trinity-san? They took a whole screen. ^^

lol matt that dirty lil boy. cant u just see him running down the street ina leather gimp suit *shivers* nm bad thought

But I won't listen to accuses from someone who is only 3rd (yes that's right, only THIRD!) in the forum arcade! *hohohoho crazy laugh*

The Arcade Wars from the past, with FatOne being my main enemy. I remember being quite a maniac about the arcade games, I was playing them for hours, trying to reach highscores. o.o

Dating sites? I'd rather go to Russian Mail brides then those...

a little post to boost this thread it die - 19 pages LOL

My thread won't die just yet... I do wonder how long it will stay alive though.

25 pages long lol.

You are underestimating, believe me...

True, I'm estimating... 50 pages? I know thats short sighted.. But at least it's reachable.

I knew it, I told you Wes!!! XD

Oh the newcomers will look at this thread, for it was rated with four stars, and simply because it's Trinity's thread. I'll create propaganda-signatures for all of her trustful minions and herself.

And noone is going to stay in Trinity's way to forum domination...

^^

I see the Arcade wars continues... Go Asakura-chan! You rule!

Oh yes, they waged once more. *lol*

One of my favorites until now coming next:

The title is missing an "f" in the "offtopic"! *runs away*

I don't see it :p

I laughed reading all those quotes, thank you, it really brightened my mood.

I truly miss our chats, Asakura-sama. We have much in common and we had a good time. *blushes* It was fun teasing you a little.

I should read through that thread again, but I just don't seem to find the time. 200 pages, I guess my estimate of 50 was far off. You know that my thread wouldn't have been anything without you guys.. Merely one massive post. *chuckles*

Have you completely stopped gaming? I don't see you on SWAT or any other game, and your activity at the arcades has obviously dropped... What do you do now a days beside working, sleeping and making signatures/videos?

I know you didn't really click with the other story I made, but would you consider reading Phoenix? I'm not so versed in writing just yet, but this is going to be a slightly longer story, and it's got no sex in it yet, so you're good to go. You commented so well on my last story, I'd hope for your input on this one as well, I would really appreciate it. :sunny:

Thursday is pool again... *smiles wide* I can't wait.

@ Enders - Yes, I don't like modern clothing really. Beside it's comfortable nature, there isn't much for me to like about the style.

I was looking into Japanese yukatas and kimonos as well as Chinese cheongsam and western stylish eveningwear. The western ones are kinda modern but I only like the modern pieces with elegance and an eternal classical feel to them. The clothes you can wear that aren't tied to fashion. *shudders at the thought of the fashion industry* There was one image I found with an asian woman in a black kimono. It was stunning... .Touch. (http://zemotion.deviantart.com/art/touch-9682990)
I totally hate the model on the right in the image (and I wrote that in my comment about the picture to the artist), but wow... The lady on the ground looks stunning. *swoons*

Gosh, I loved this show when I was little... But I had forgotten all about it. When I heard this memories flooded back to me. I haven't seen the show again, but I've gotten a hold of two versions of that song that I treasure (one instrumental and one with vocals).

Anyone else seen it?

Ahahahah! My sister found this image from a Norwegian store... I can't understand that they even put that... Stupid shop workers. HAHAHAHAHA! Oh, and "ALLTID" means "always" in Norwegian.

That one has got to take the "price" :D

I was in a danish shop, that had a sale sign too. I couldn't help but to grap a shot of it too, however, my Bluetooth is giving me headaches (by not working), so I'm gonna rely on my kean sence of explaining things :

They had a huge sign saying "4 boxes, 100 kr. Different colours". The sign was hanging above an enourmous stack of boxes. All of them, with no exceptions, were white.

Funny how store workers sometimes seem to be in another world :D

Can you see the black sky? A storm is coming in, and it won't be pretty. Seek shelter from it wherever you can... Barricade yourself... Hug the one you love, tell those you treasure that you love them... Cross your fingers and hope for the best... Because a storm is coming... The dark and the cold will gladly sweep its cloak around you... Chill you to the bone until you welcome the dark oblivion that lays beyond.

The storm is here.

Darkstar shifts through eternity, the infinite darkens the master looks beyond the horizon to hope all humanity prevails

A tear gently drifts down my cheak to the dry ground beneath, it sparkles briefly in the cold sun bright day.
Life stirs in the windless place oh so briefly..............

That is why I seek the first ones who strode across the Universe after creation, but I fear they have past on into the infinite....They hold the key to the change in our exsistence beyond what is, to what will be ..............

Know this ... Darkstar is my companion forever, It is what I want and all I know.......

George Lucas is blinded by the dollar signs in his eyes... He's made up some stupid story about the science behind Star Wars and how it was all meant to make a difference and how he wants to involve the children and get them interested in science bla bla bla bla... I mean... Come on! You did it for the money you chump! Stop lying.

I will put my penny worth in....

Hollwood film makers whether they be George Lucas or anyone one else are only interested in one thing ......MONEY and return on investment. ..Simple as that..

Your choice as to whether you like the film or not......................

My view on Star Wars is that it very comic book stuff........no science really .....A film that was close to SciFi science if I can put it like that is ALIEN......

But there again it is upto the individual choice............................

Ghost MacRoth

Hollwood film makers whether they be George Lucas or anyone one else are only interested in one thing ......MONEY and return on investment. ..Simple as that..

Not strictly true. Mostly true unfortunately, but there are some filmakers that take huge losses as they try to make a film to be proud of, but it bombs as the jaded explosion loving public don't dig it, which makes the producers less likely to take any risks again, and just keep churning out the same old garbage. I have worked on several films that were made to showcase talent rather than make money. Unfortunately, the general public never get to see these types of film, more's the pity. The ones we must all direct our hate toward are the producers, not the actual filmakers. As for Lucas, well, I guess he's a full on 'producer' now (and yes, I used 'producer' like a dirty word!!).

Yes Trinity perhaps I was a bit harsh and I not sure I was claiming very much:), there are many good Sci Fi Films with that Element of what might be in future science.
I have over 180 in my DVD Film Library.....some of which you have mentioned above.
Others for possible consideration would be 2001 space odyssey, Abyss, Battlestar Galactica (new series), Gattaca, Immortal, Pitch Black, Soldier, Starship Troopers, Supernova and The Thing.

Hmm... Supernova was kinda boring, so I haven't watched it more then once so can't really comment on that one.

Ahhh.. The Abyss.. I really liked that movie when I saw it. Been a while though, so I can't remember much.

Ah, a friend of mine is getting Battlestar Galactica (the new series) HD version... Can't wait to see it. :D Not having too high hopes for it... But at least Lucy Lawless eventually star in it and the movie has gotten a lot of praise. ;)

Pitch Black, what an awesome movie. Totally love it, though of course I hate that the people I liked perished.

Starship Troopers... Now there's a movie you love to hate. It's too... Silly for me actually.. And Dr. Doogie didn't make it any better. I had a permanent image in my head of him in a white lab-coat with a boyish smile on his face.

Gattaca, another brilliant movie. But... It's rather aimed at forensic technology, isn't it?

On a sidenote, I can't remember any of these aiming towards science... Maybe Supernova... I don't know. None of these try to explain themselves (which totally gets annoying).

Ghost MacRoth
29-11-07, 04:13 PM
Gattica totally explains itself Trin'!! It is the extention of the puritanical intolerant society in which we live taken to an intollerable level. When your genes decide your fate before you even leave the womb.

The Abyss, good film, but a bit too gung ho american to be taken too seriously.

Battlestar Galactica, well, haven't seen much, but what I seen was MORE than enough. Not my cup of tea.

Pitch Black, nice low budget effort. I liked that almost everyone died, but I really wanted Vin Diesel to die, as he is a terrible actor, and the film suffered for it. Again, not a film to be taken seriously, but a decent film none the less.

Starship Troopers, again, the basic premis of a society that uses it's population for it's own ends works well. The 'adverts' are remeniscent of Verhovens best film, 'Robocop', with the uncaring yet polished veneer of sinicism ever present. Apart from that, well, it's an action movie set in space, not really Sci-Fi, but I still find myself enjoying it every time I see it.

2001. Now there's a film. Beautifully shot, expertly directed, stunning score, and superb editing. As for the science, well, it was alien science beyond our understanding, and Kubrick done a brilliant job of keeping us on the razors edge of confused and awestruck.

The Thing, well as long as we are talking about John Carpenter's origional 70's movie, then brilliant, but it's really a horror I'd say. The remake?? Well, less said the better.

So here's some more to discuss.....

The Matrix, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Contact, Close Encounters, and 12 monkeys. :)

Matt
29-11-07, 09:02 PM
I only watched Starship troopers for the nude and err gore :D Not much of a film though for that or anything really, but I must say the idea and story was a good one, just not conveyed properly.

Good alround performance by Jodie Foster
The concept was well devised and reminds me of my musings...he he Darkstar;)

I offer further films up for discussion which score highly in my oppion :
Children of Dune, Enemy Mine, Final Fantasy ...this because of the awsome CGI, Lifeforce, Solaris (remake ), Species, Starman, Sunshine and Time Machine(new version).

Of course there are many more...:)

Selena
30-11-07, 02:48 AM
I've never seen the point in cheating... I mean... I've used cheatcodes on console games (singleplayer) AFTER I've gone through the whole game. Like... God mode and whatever... But wallhack, aimbot... Uh.. Colour cheats and whatever else you can think of. What is the point in multiplayer? If your not cutting it, don't play the mode... Or practice until you got it. Someone actually offered me a wallhack for SWAT3. I almost accepted it out of curiosity... But ended up declining the offer. I was always butchered in DM (Death Match) so I kept to coop, also the rather bully-like behaviour DM players displayed really put me off. In those days I always played on American servers, the lag giving me a considerable disadvantage as the only European... In sniper you could use that lag to your advantage... When you were in a duel and your opponent were leaning behind a wall.. You could just fire at the empty spot, and when he leaned out after the round was fired it would hit him because of the lag... It was brilliant. It was slower, more tactical... Exactly the way I liked it.

Now I'm training PO for the tournament... It's fast... Your adrenaline surges while you focus all your senses on the game. You try to pick up movement... You listen to every footstep, every door being opened or closed... And you make the most of it.

I had a really hard time adjusting to DM back in the days as I was tuned in on not shooting to kill.. EVER. You shot the legs. Now, after I got Battlefield 2, that changed... Shoot to kill... Then I got Rainbow Six Las Vegas... Hehe.

And now I always try to aim for the head.

Getting a mouse with a wire also helped my game.. All I need now is a mousemat that doesn't have texture.

GunChick and all the rest of the SOG members run me into the ground with their colt pythons over and over again. One shot one kill people, and I'm usually the one faceplanting. *laughs* It's a lot of fun and I've learned a lot from you guys. Thank you. I might stand a chance now. Hopefully I won't botch it up. *looks at Lucy and Corvette* I'll do good. *smiles*

I haven't been running UAC... As I still don't get how that thing works... But, you know... If you think it's needed, I will start using it.

Well... Yes. I am very competitive... I am also a poor loser who would let a defeat impact personally and I would take taunting in a very negative way. I totally HATE losing... This drives me though... It pushes me to try the best of my abilities every time. *smirks*

I'm so very disappointed in coop... I used to relish playing coop alone in SWAT3 as I could beat any mission with a perfect score. It is close to impossible with the lack of tac-aids in SWAT4. So I need to play with others to raise the amount of tac-aids... Though I'm seriously disappointed in most people... It's putting me down considerably that there are so few who master the game on the SOG servers. Oh, and I'm not talking about a 100% score... I'm talking about perfect team synchronization as well as doing it by the book. I expect more... Apparently too much.

PO is easy... You are an egotistical player only looking at the score chart... Only looking to take out whatever enemy you encounter. It is simplicity... And so rewarding when done right.

Hmm, the limited tac-aids that can be carried in SWAT 4 is kind of a nitpick. However, the fact that you can't just lob a grenade anywhere forces you to skillfully deploy the grenades. I actually find it fun to get a well-deployed grenade into a room and watch the great results, even though I can at most only carry 4 grenades at once (my 5th slot is always reserved for the optiwand ;)). Well, no team is perfect but when a good team works together the results are spectacular. I do indeed remember the great teamwork when you and I played co-op. I'd like to play some games sometime, but time is a constraint since I work full-time.:(

I have been called a cheat a few times as O'Niel says it is always the ones you own......
MYT comes down hard on Cheaters as I know SOG does, unfortunately it is all to common occurence.
As Admin I remind players who call others cheaters not to say so in public, and that if they have evidence to present it at MYT forum. Invariably they dont.

He He He, as for game mode well there is no way I could match Trinity's score in pistols, I count myself fortunate if I get into double figures in a round.;) But none the less enjoy the experience.:)

However VIP Escort, which is my preferred mode, it is another matter.
Best Score here was 60, but others in MYT have done better.
Still it really is not the score, it is whether you win the round & Map which counts.:)

One shot one kill people, and I'm usually the one faceplanting. *laughs* It's a lot of fun and I've learned a lot from you guys. Thank you. I might stand a chance now. Hopefully I won't botch it up. *looks at Lucy and Corvette* I'll do good. *smiles*

Yes, i'm indeed kinda bored and i indeed got nothing to talk about. I saw the thread, had a look again, saw her new avatar and - since this is still an offtopic-thread afaik - just said that, hoping to make her saying something about it, thats why there's a question mark behind the sentence

Yes, it's my new avatar. I was thinking about changing more frequently... But, gif avatars can't be used as they are "too big". Which sucks of course, but I'll live.
It's Trinity from the Animatrix... Cool pic. Been using it on other forums. =)

Yes, I am still writing on Phoenix. It's going painfully slow. I'm revising what I've written over and over trying to make what I already wrote a tad bit better. It's 23 pages now I believe... Which isn't much improvement... But it's coming along. I'm hoping I'll get some more done before christmas... Which reminds me, I should go christmasshopping again. I lack 2 important presents... And... 2 not so important.

Rats, things to do, things to do.

Edit: So the Phoenix story is updated and now in two parts in the thread. The first post is full, so on page 3 or 4 (can't remember) the story continues. All those who are interested please read and review either in this thread or in the Phoenix thread (preferably).

I truly value your opinions and they are all considered. Please write what you honestly think, if you don't it can't improve. *bows* Thank you all for your interest as it encourages me to continue writing.

Ghost MacRoth
06-12-07, 11:24 PM

That explains so much from tonights games... Especially the round where Ghost was leading on Red Library Offices, and moves up to the first door after spawn, mirrors, finds suspect and says "Follow me in, clear it fast". About 1 second later, GhostMacRoth was history :D

Once or Twice? .... What was the score? "Don't ask, don't tell" right? :p

BTW: About the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy with the Armies in America, they want to make it a law so that the ones in our military that are gay will feel it's ok to let it be public so they don't have to "Be Afraid" I think it's just a BS rule to find a way to criticize them because they are different.

All missions can be done with a 100%... With a little luck and determination. My favourite to complete with a 100% is Diamond Center. All you need is LL and a mirror.

Red Library is great, sure. The exactly right mix. DuPlessis is imo the most difficult mission.

The two most difficult rooms are imo the server area at Red Library and the vault at DuPlessis. Thats the two rooms with the most difficult hostage situations, if you trigger them. If not they are easy.

Eh, the movie is not FROM the 50's or 60's, merely partly about it. The movie is "Common Ground" by the way... Had to look up a quote from that movie to remember one actor (Ed Asner), then go to imdb.com to find the title. Good movie, wish I could see it again.

Edit: I totally read two different Shizuru/Natsuki fanfics today... One made me laugh frequently and the second one made me cry like a crazed person... Selena
13-12-07, 10:28 AM
I felt inspired to pollute my thread with chatter about me inspired by Nicoleise and his "Tell us about yourself with images":

There are few things in life that are important to me.
One is my friends in real life, my friends online and my close family (parents and older sister).

Through and through I'm a gamer and have been since I got my Nintendo Entertainment System back in the days... I think I was in 3rd or 4th grade.
Then I got my Sony Playstation.
Then my Sony Playstation 2.

And here are some of the game-series I play. (http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t205/wok2/eva%20sine/CIMG4204.jpg)

Other then being a gamer, I'm a volleyball player. I used to play on a indoor team, but they unfortunately disbanded and I didn't join a new one. So sand volleyball (http://www.norceca.org/Campeonatos%20M-F%20Juveniles%202006/Regulations_sub202006/photogallery_sub-20%20Women-mex_2006/Sizzlin%20Sand%20Beach%20Volleyball%20Final%20Rank ing%202006.jpg) and regular volleyball (http://www.synste.no/Ny2004/bilder/42-volleyball.jpg) are my favourite sports.

Then comes billiards (which I play regularly) and martial arts. (http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t205/wok2/eva%20sine/CIMG4201.jpg)
Think I suck at billiards? Consider the rules I play by:
If you shoot down the white on the break; you lose. If you shoot down the black on the break; you win.
You can choose which color you want if you shoot down something on the break, if you don't it's open for your opponent. After that a downed ball designates type.
You have to strike the lowest value of your designated balls at all times. You can either call it or call the other ball you will try to shoot down with your lowest valued ball. You also have to call the pocket where to shoot it down.
If you do either of these; pocket the white, one of your own balls that you didn't call, the ball you called just in the wrong pocket, a ball of your opponent, shoot a ball off the table, shooting down only one ball but having called two; you lose your turn and your opponent can move the white to where ever he chooses.
If you miss your own, hit a value higher then your lowest or hit one of your opponents balls with the white; you lose your turn.
The black is a neutral ball during the game until it's the last ball on the table.
If you; pocket the white when the black is the last ball, pocket the black in a pocket you didn't call: you lose the game.
All these rules are there to make it that much harder to actually accomplish a shot. Me and my friend have been adding these rules one by one to force the usage of tactics and to avoid wild shots.

The sword is a wakizashi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakizashi) (defensive) sword, a gift from my father. Unfortunately I don't practice any martial art, but in January I will probably join something. Hopefully either Kung Fu (http://www.designverb.com/wp-content/images/2006/08/kung.fu.stewadess.jpg) or Krav Maga (http://mail.vancouvermartialarts.com/WadeElbowing.JPG) the latter is also known as "realistic self defense". Do maximum damage to your opponent as quickly as possible then run.

Other then that I watch a lot of media (http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t205/wok2/eva%20sine/CIMG4205.jpg).

As you see I have a lot of storage and those are a few of my favourite movies I have on DVD. I watch most genres, but I'm really fond of martial arts action, science fiction and anime (http://v2gundam.deviantart.com/art/Mai-otome-natsuki-and-shizuru-59522896).

I read a whole lot of fan-fiction (http://www.fanfiction.net/) and now I days I'm a writer as well as artist (http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs18/f/2007/122/6/b/Duran_by_April83.jpg).

Other then all that I have my trusty computer (http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t205/wok2/eva%20sine/CIMG4198.jpg).
The specs you can check on my x-fire profile page (http://www.xfire.com/profile/sexytrinity/).
It's kind of designed for me mostly... So I treasure it as my own...

Other then that we have three cars in this household.
One Mercedes Benz E220 CDI Avant Garde 1999 model named "the Hitler sleigh or the sofa on wheels".
Second is a Toyota Hiace D4D 2004 named "the Red".
Third is a Toyota 4Runner 3.0 1994 named "the Runner".

I totally hate the Hiace, because it's slow and makes such an endless racket. I wish it were soundproofed.
Love the Benz IN THE SUMMER... With it's automatic transmission it's a comfy ride. Dad has decided not to use spiked tires on it... And so it's a sleigh in the winter.
Now, the Toyota is the beast. It goes off road if you want to, has a winch and extra lights.. Man, that car can get you out of the toughest scrapes. We used to have spikes on it, but not this year, so it's not as reliable as it used to be. But it's still the best car! Unfortunately the clutch is freaking heavy, not that you notice when you drive, but when you sit in the Hiace afterwards you almost crush the clutch through the floor. *laughs*

See me on the road in one of these cars? Stay clear! I'm kind of aggressive.

OK, this has been endless babble about me... And I loved it. *grins* Any questions? Please ask. :sunny:

Nice to get to know you a little more then! :D I see we share the taste of games, both on PS2 and PC. :)

Also, I noticed our PCs are fairly similar, and we actually use the same CPU :p Mine is 2½ years old though, I just never bothered upgrading it, as it still keeps on doing games on max settings fine. Next upgrade will probably be a 2nd graphic card, to run SLi. :)

I'm a great fan of pool, billiard never really appealed to me. But it's cool to see that you're intensifying the game, to challenge yourselves more. :)

We're much more of a V-dub family, with (too) many cars in the household.

- VW Vento 1.8 CL
- VW Golf 1.8 CL
- Seat Cordoba 1.6 (My car, see it in the car thread if you wish)
- VW Sharan 1.9 TDi
- VW Bora 1.9 TDi PD (My moms car, my favorite to drive.)

We don't need the off roading here in Denmark, as we don't really have anything but hills. :D I do enjoy the Bora though. It's insanely fast, and always has plenty of power, no matter which gear or speed you drive. It's lowered from factory, so you feel like you're sitting on the ground, yet it's really comfortable and does corners like a dream.

The Mercedes is a nice car too. They're used alot as taxis here, so I've been in one a few times. :)

How do you live ? In a city or in the countryside, and what kinda land do you own, if you're in the country ? (hills, mountains, forrests, etc) :)

Don't be jealous O'Neil. :p

I live in the city suburbs of Trondheim. The third largest city in the country. It's not really that big compared to other countries, and I like that. It's got a small center, but wide in area generally. I mean, ever been to Norway? We're mostly mountains up here... Mountains and fjords. Look up Trondheims fjorden. Oh, and don't think you'll be able to cross the fjord swimming. *smiles* You can see the currents on the surface of the water... ;) If you row too far away from shore, you might not be able to reach it again.

So, we're in an ordinary wooden house in a very ordinary neighbourhood. We're middle class like most people. We have a lawn but not much property.

Other then that we have a summer house which used to be my grandparents small farm. Now it has lost most of the land that belonged to it and so we only have the house and the barn. It's located on an island in the fjord (it has a bridge to the mainland). I love crossing that bridge... It's narrow but straight forward... So 110-120kmp/h here I come. *grins as she floors it, loving how the engine roars and presses her back into her seat*

I'm considering living there for maybe a month next year.

Um... 4wheel drives are very common in Norway now. With the tax you have on spiked tires, people still want to be able to drive around without running off the road or getting stuck somewhere.

I've been the Denmark a few times... And all I can say... HOLY COW IT'S FLAT! Been to København and I took the train from Sweden to Denmark a couple of times. Kastrup, I've lost count on how many times I've been at that airport.

*nonchalantly leans back in his chair* Who me? Jealous? :p Sounds like some interesting places to see. Well, no mountains or fjords where I live (well, duh it's NYC :p). I live in a three-story house (red brick exterior, typical white wall interior) on a quiet block on my street. Any tourist attractions near my house? Well, I guess the closest would be the Bronx Zoo. The furthest from my house would be Yankee Stadium; I live in the southeast section of the Bronx, Yankee Stadium is on the west. I suppose my neighborhood is ranging from lower to middle class, though somewhat scattered across city blocks. Yup, just my typical city life. :p I've taken a couple of snapshots around the city a while back. Some people have told me that I'm a good photographer. Maybe I'll post the pics later.

I've been to Norway 3 times. :) Nice, clean air mostly...

You sound like the average norwegian driver too. :D Floor it and almost ramming the car infront of you, because you have to drive so close by. :p It's fairly easy to tell if you're outrunning a norwegian, because either they're on your backseat or they lost :D That's my experience anyhow.

Yes, Denmark is fairly flat. Small country too.

4x4s are common here too. For no reason what so ever. Big city jungle fewer. There's hardly any winter here, it usually lasts from about february to march, and my lowered FWD car with good wintertires can go where ever others can too, because if the roads are blocked here, it's not by the weather itself, but by other drivers crashing or getting stuck. :)

So those 4x4s we see mostly here are the VW Touareg and the Audi Q7, along with the Mercedes, both the R class, ML and GL class. :)

About the narrow bridge, I dont like going fast in places like that. Although I like fast driving, I'm also a very safety concerned driver. I also push it if I have atleast one alternative "lane". E.g. near I live, we have this overhead crossing of a freeway, with on/off-ramps. One of the offramps are very hard to see from, when you're coming from it, and trying to get out on the road. So when I'm driving on the road, I remember that. And if I have no oncoming traffic, I usually drive 70 kmh over it, but if I have uncoming, and I see a car coming on the ramp, I go as low as 40, to be sure I can stop in time.

All the racing energy of mine ( :D ) is spendt on good countryroads, where the road surface is twisty, leaning and challeging. Only where I can see far enough ahead to make sure I'll get no accidents though

So me driving on a narrow bridge wouldn't be racing. There's no alternatives, if you get oncoming traffic and you can't stop in time. :)

I really do enjoy winter though... :) I remember the new years eve before this last one, I was driving a friend to a nearby party... And the snow had just started falling earlier that night, but it fell fast, and stayed on the ground... And at the edge of the city, I dropped her off in, there's a roundabout... :D

WOW, was I going sideways for a couple of laps in that... Was fun indeed. I love driving like that when no one is around to get endangered by me :p

But do you mean that you cant drive because of weather, or is it not allowed to drive MCs in the winter season in Norway ?

I think it's rather "Who the hell rides a motorcycle in winter?", since it is cold and there's snow on the ground which reduces your ability to keep control of your vehicle. ;)

@Trinity-san:

What a nice introduction, thank you, especially for the images. :) I thought of posting something like you wrote in Nico's "Stuff that you like" (http://www.sog-team.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5365) as well, but I didn't have the time by now. Additionally there wouldn't be many interesting "facts" about Asakura. ^.^;

About driving: I'm a "good girl" and following the rules. If a sign says "30km/h" I'll drive 30km/h and not more. Although I have to admit that it gives me a nice, shivery feeling when I'm on the highway and increasing speed. >.>; Anyway, I promised myself that I'll follow all of the traffic rules for at least two years. And after that time...we will see. :p

Lucy
13-12-07, 08:05 PM
The worst thing I ever did was 70km/h in a 40-zone, while I also crossed on red light (that was an accident, its true) I don't know what I was thinking (probably not much)

Worst driving I did was a few days ago... Last saturday. Had to get from one place to another in about 5 minutes. Usually it's a 15 minute drive. Did it in 7 minutes. :p

I didn't run any lights, I would never do that. But I did overtake quite alot, and in some places where it was far beyond the law. And I did get quite a bit over the limit. I passed 160 on a short stretch of regular A road, where I'm allowed to drive 80. I had no oncoming and no traffic in front of me, so I pulled out to the middle of the road and floored it for a small straight bit. Then braked down for a corner. Again, road empty and alone in the car. :)

Looking back, I still regret it though. It was driving where I'd usually be like "He's crazy" if I saw another person do it. :)

Selena
13-12-07, 10:00 PM
In Norway there are a lot of aggressive drivers. I do believe over 50% drives constantly over the speed limit. One of the reasons driving in Norway can be hazardous is because our roads are mostly one lane in each direction... Even on the highway. Usually you have the fjord on one side and the side of the mountain on the other.

The straight stretches with good visibility are few and far between. This means, no one wants to let people in front of them because if it happens to be a slow driver, you might have to stay behind him for an hour. So people will be aggressive and tight on your tail to be able to use any stretch available to get passed you.

Then there are the crazy bypasses. And so, you go max speed while going passed, chancing it. I've had a scare with a guy coming at me head on while doing a bypass towards a top... That was really too close for comfort. I panicked and didn't think rationally. I should have braked, let go of the gas pedal, but I didn't. Fortunately it went OK.

I almost gave my sister a heart attack while on our way to Sweden. We were driving along.. With a river on one side and the mountainside on the other... And we were in the runner. So I was behind this driver for like.. half an hour chasing him... It was bloody annoying.. Narrow and curved roads never gave me proper view.. Then I calculated a stretch... From the amount of time I had watched the road ahead.. There shouldn't be any cars coming... I was 95% sure, so I floored it. My sister was dozing off but came to when I sped up. And she was like "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!" as we were in the middle of a curve with low visibility. *laughs* I explained I had been watching the road carefully and it was all clear and so her breathing eased. Oh, such an excellent moment.

OK, now I'm really tired! *yawns* I'm off to bed.

Nicoleise

Well, here in Denmark the greatests hazard when overtaking is that people are stupid :D

If you overtake someone, the traffic law clearly states what the person being overtaken should do ; decellerate or keep speed, pull as far to the right as possible, provide for a safe overtaking (e.g. at night, not turning the highbeams off, before the other car overtaking is far enough up to turn his highbeams on)

However, I've had it happen alot of times, especially if you overtake during acceleration (out a roundabout, just having left an intersection), that people speed up, simply by flooring their car, kinda making a little race out of it.

That did get me in a close spot once, where this driver kept driving 40 out a round about. For about 200 meters. Then I shift down, floor it, flash the lights as I pull out, since I had oncomming traffic far ahead, but wanted to make sure he knew I was coming (reg. overtaking procedure here is that if any possible doubt, alert the driver of the overtaking by indicators or flash-to-pass). So, just as I reach his door, he starts accellerating as a bat outta hell. Luckily my car has some fairly long gears, so I just kept it in gear for quite a while before changing, so I was able to hold the upshift, untill I had actually cleared his car. But when I pulled back in my lane, there was only about 150 meters to the car ahead of me, and he was speeding, driving at about 100. Not at all pleasant.

That's the only overtaking I ever made, that got risky in any way. But I have it happen to me alot that oncomming overtakers really push it. Once, I had to step on the brakes, and pull all the way out to the right of the road, where the bikes usually drive, to be sure to clear his car. He pulled in 40 meters in front of me, and that was with me braking hard. Im sure, had I not reacted, he'd have crashed me head on.

The worst overtaking I've seen, must have been some smart dude in an old Nissan 300ZX or something. He overtook me, because I was driving a little slow, due to a student driver infront of me driving slow. So he overtakes me, and I'm like "Yeah, great idea... Now you'll get there alot sooner". But then he stays out there. With oncoming traffic and everything, he overtakes the student driver as well (beind a new driver, unsure of them selves, I would only overtake them if plenty of room myself). He then squezes the student driver by pulling in so close infront of her, to clear the oncoming traffic, that the driving teacher steps on the brakes, and obviously I had to too.

Nice spot to put that new driver in, I'm sure she'll drive on with lots of confidence. :)

Selena
14-12-07, 11:08 AM
Haha! Student drivers... Those are the worst, snailing along. I try to be respectful, but sometimes I need to be on their tails to get passed.

In Norway it states that: If you are being overtaken; if need be, you are obligated to STOP your vehicle for the one who wants to overtake you to be able to. I mean, when I see someone who really wants to overtake me, I'll try to help him as I know how truly lousy it is to not be able to.

I've been overtaken while overtaking... That was an experience. On our new highway there are short stretches with two lanes for overtaking (usually up hills) and so I was in the sofa on wheels and floored it to pass. Usually I just stay in the passing lane so I'll take as many as possible. Apparently I wasn't going fast enough... So when there was a big enough space in the right lane (you ALWAYS pass in the left lane) the BMW just shoots passed me... And I was thinking.. "Wow, respect to you dude, that was a sweet move". I was like.. Going 120 in an 90 zone. Much faster then that and you lose your license if caught.

In Norway all roads are narrow, you can't drive outside the white line without the risking getting your tires outside the edge of the asphalt and most likely losing control of your car.. Usually there are like... 15-20 cm on the sides. So you can't really do like in Sweden where you can almost park on the side of the road.

Note: When I say Norway I'm excluding the capital, as south Norway's roads are a priority it seems. Us further north don't get that privilege.

Oh, and I have been pondering something for a while and I think I'm going to have to ask the police about it. Here and north they are building one lane roads with a divider and railing on the side... So you can't let someone pass you even if you wanted to. What if you are alone, no cars in front of you, and an emergency vehicle with their sirens on comes up behind you... What do you do?

Keep your legal speed and wait for an opportunity to let him pass?
Try to stop and see if he can pass you?
Speed up to not hinder?

I would assume the last one is the right choice (in my mind), as there is an emergency and lives could be at stake. I mean, I'm talking good asphalt with rather good visibility, unless it's winter you could safely go at 140kmp/h even though the limit is 80/90.

Did you know that 10 people die each year because of speed-bumps? Ambulances are slowed down, which results in them not getting at locations/hospital in time. Really sad.

and again to make clear there was no camping - in both teams
UAC raport is also clear there were no cheating players

if you dont like when ppl dont like you cause of your scores or playing style - change it, dont play or be ready for that

i was claimed many times about camping and cheating and so what i should do just kick them? make a thread? ask to ban them all for SOG servers? i dont think it is a good way

Have fun discussing this topic, but somewhere else in a separate thread or via PM please since this isn't "off-topic" but a serious matter. Which means it absolutely doesn't fit in here! Oh wait, that sounds cruel towards Trinity-san's thread now...but I think you know how I meant it, right Trin? ;)

Back to (off-)topic:

Roads over here are quite good. Of course you may find some damaged parts, but overall I think highways and streets in town are in a good condition. Although I have to admit that I'm not much driving since I don't have my own car yet. :p And I'm usually driving the same routes, like home-work or home-brother's home.

By the way, I guess some of you recognized the new image in my signature? A friend of mine gave me the link to www.last.fm where you can download a program which remembers the songs and bands you are listening to and uploads your playlist. The image you see in my signature shows the last tracks I played so far. I built the playlist myself with a tool you can find on the website, but it is quite complicated, and it took me three tries to get it working. Since it is hard to read the black text though, I will have to create a different one. ^.^ The website contains forums as well, but it's primarily useless spam. What a pity, I thought I can get to know some users there. But I guess I will, since in about one week the website shows me profiles of users who listen to the same sort of music as I do. I think I'll take the courage to send one or two of them a message. :)

Well, off to bed I go. Gotta work tomorrow, on Tuesday I (hopefully) will have a driving security lesson, and on Wednesday my third wisdom tooth will leave its cave, ouch ouch. >.<
