Hey all, just a quick lil thing....I don't know alot about servers to be honest, and no idea how much they cost etc, however I was just thinking it would be a good thing to have another normal SOG server, as its always pretty full and it seems to be really popular and I just think we should try to get another one. (not less than lethal only) As it will help expand the clan and allow more people to experiance SOG life...and thats what we want :P

yeah so if anyone wants to comment about it good or bad or what they think then feel free :)

well at the moment it seems we are trying a few different types of servers, but we always have server no1(although i've heard its had its fair share of problems lately)for coop.
but we do have more than just the coop servers, with have vip and pistols only.
but with regards to coop, we usually have 3 of them, but that changes often, so its hard to keep track of them all

ohh kk thanks :D I will try out the pistol one soon xD...there seems to be the gun glitch quite alot on the nightclub level...cant remember proper name (A-bomb?) and I keep getting disconected after every round...which is tad annoying...could be sumin at my end tho as it doesnt happen to everyone. Do you think we will get another server tho?

well all pistols only servers have the gun glitch unfortunatly :( something even we cant get rid of
and yes, the nightclub level id the A-Bomb, unsure why ur getting disconnected though, maybe you take along time to connect and you get timed out??? not sure though, there could be a number of reason to be honest.
with regards to another server, i guess only the GL's know that answer, i suppose it depends on donations, and what they see fit to spend the cash on....

well it is xmas soon

Haha matts the offical new SOG santa :D lool. ohhh I was getting that glitch on the usuall co-op servers not pistol ones I havent been on those YET lol. well usually it connects straight away then begins loading,,,,but sometimes it fulls up the connection thing but doesnt load and then I KNOW ITS NOT GOING TO WORK and its just annoying because everyone starts next game without me grr lol....its why I quit SWAT4 ages ago - SOG makes it much more fun tho than randomly going on servers xD

Well, we have the SOG standard server, the LL server and the PRO server. As you all know, the LL server and the PRO server are havens when it comes to avoiding rambo play... So I kind of disagree to changing the LL one... And the PRO server will get changed over my dead body. So there. *laughs* I'm sure, if we get more donations, another server will come up. ;)

Well I thought would be best to add a totally new server that maybe changes regually? to different types or something?. Which brings me onto the map cycle...there doesnt seem to be too many maps in which we play on, is that due to small server or is it more to do with game restriction? it just would be better with more variation - and SOG will achieve its greater goal of becoming best CO-OP server EVER if it has alot of variation :D

The pro server was abit annoying when Nico was teaching me some tactics...everyone joined in and played like usual - another reason why we need server? how much are they? maybe if every serious member donated would be enough??

well hullabo, i like to think us admins do an okay job at keeping the servers a good place to play this game, like trin said, we do get our fair share of rambos/kamikaze players, but if we online, then we can quickly dispense of them.
i hope you continue to play them, and maybe post in the feedback section about your problem, then maybe someone can help with that

When it comes to training Hullabo, have you and Nico discussed creating your own temporary server either online or LAN? Just a suggestion. People love the PRO server, as it's meant for the elites to play on... With real teamplay and so on. You can't really hog the server without it being cleared with the upper echelons of SOG. It's an "open" server.

Well, of course the Pro can be used to play really tactical, I'd love to do that too, but sometimes people join... well, like Trin says, open server. Maybe you can train seriously another day when not everyone joins if you talk to the leaders first if they give you a few hours to train (until the clan as a working coop squad again)

ye I will just do that it shouldent take long anyway.

any thoughts on the map rotation or anythin else ive said? maybe donating?

Well, there are only two maps that are not on our coop servers, Fairfax and Foodwall. I'd like to add these to the Pro Rotation, they are very very good for training and realistic games, because they are realistic scenarios, more than huge hostage situations with only 2 officers...

Cheerup

They dont last very long though do they? But I spose its more realistic as you said yeah. Is it possible to create our own maps or edit current ones for spesific training or impossible odds or something like on the pro server?

Alright, I wanna comment a little on this.

- The pro server is absolutely open. Everyone can join it, which is perfectly fine with me. The thing that annoyed me a bit, was that one (unnamed) person came to the server, and started teaching Hullabo, while I was, which only led to huuge confusion, and me having to talk not so nice, which is something I really dont like to do. But everyone is free to join it as they wish, so no problem on people just playing on it, that's great.

- The pro server CAN be used for just training purposes, according to the rules of it, however, we're not allowed to disturb general gameplay, i.e. wasting everyones time. The training doesn't need to be cleared with HM, GL, or CL unless we want the server in private, which was never my intention.

==

On the topic of servers, I think it's a good idea, however funds are limited, and this clan is already quite costly, and 60% of that goes to the servers.

When I joined, I think we had a Coop, a Lethal and a Less lethal, along with a VIP and P.O. I don't know where the lethal server has gone off to, but if any, I'd like to see another coop server, like #1, instead of the lethal server, since most people go lethal on #1 anyhow. I agree in keeping LL server, as it really keeps the rambo-level down.

Both Admins (who are doing a superb job), and members of this clan always do their best to keep the servers neat and orderly, so usually there's no problems when SOG is present. I know there's issues when there's no tagged people on - so I hear from a lot of player, but the only way to solve that is more admins being more active on more different servers. However, we should all keep in mind that this is a hobby for us, not a job. :)

The reason those two maps aren't in the map cycle is that they'd be over in like 30 seconds with a good coop team, meaning that the loading time wouldn't be worth it for the short amount of gameplay.

For training purposes they're good, so they could be on the pro server, as any members there have right to cycle through the maps, using the map switch command, as far as I know, and therefore can skip it, should they like.

On the donating part - Matt would love you :D However, to be realistic, alot of our members, especially JM, don't have the money or the permission from parents to donate any money.

And we actually have a lot of members donating. I'm not one of them yet, as I didn't wanna donate before I was a member, and octobers target has been reached along time ago. I will donate in the future though, especially when it's running low. :)

I think that's everything I wanted to comment on, but I guess it's quite alot too.

But thanks to Hullabo for suggesting, we like to get some new inputs and ideas here, and I can only encourage you to keep at it. :)

And I guess we'll await the GLs answer to this ? :)

Well, I see this is an interesting discussion going on here. Everyone here pretty much summed up what I was going to say.:p I love the Pro server. I play, not just for the learning of tactics, but to have fun and just knowing you have a group of great players to back you up greatly enhances the experience. The only thing that nags me is the horrible lag and pings that occurs sometimes on the Pro server.

coop server 2 will be running again in the near future depending on donations

I just saw the TSS (Strechcov Syndicate) server with 5/8 players today. That's the first time, while I've been at SOG , I've seen anyone using that server. None was SOG.

So I suggest changing that server to a Coop #2 with same settings as Coop #1. I think Hullabos idea is great, and I think this'd be a good way to make it happen . :)

the TSS server was full very often when it was first launched...

hmm, thinking i may have to install it again......

I uninstalled TSS a while ago... I'm not intending to install it again as I'm not too fond of it.

i only played it a couple of times, but once i got massive amounts of lags, so that put me off :(

Matt

TSS Server is back online with now 8 instead of 10 players to minimise the lag. Some would play TSS more often if possible and considering there are less servers in TSS than our added competition in SWAT 4, such as Frosty's Servers, it seems like a better move.

It's a wise decision to make 8 slots, cuz I already told some1 from leaders I got some complaints about lags and high pings in TSS server...
This server is kinda popular, maybe not full everyday but often and often I see players playing there.

Wes

of course there are lags, if the other players are using custom skins the server gets lags, because the skins aren't in the server.

Commandor Tech
14-11-07, 07:13 PM
Oke and what about original SWAT4?
There should be some skins and mods for it too?...talking about COOP server, maybe there's only 6 slots, but I didnt saw it so laggy as TSS...
Anyway, decreasing slots number should do the trick...
