View Full Version : Using pictures in reports

Heya

I was just wondering over something last night. As I still havent found the answer, I'd like to ask for my own - and other interesteds - benefit :

xFire allows us 15 Mb of hosted space for screenshots. I - like most others - use xFire for screenshots, and put them on my screenshot gallery. Then link to the screenshot in the report post.

However, at some point, I'll have to delete pictured that I've linked to, in my reports, to be able to post new screenshots. By that time, the report will probably already be answered, and appropriate action taken.

But sometimes we search or look back on older posts, if a player rings a bell in your memory. Such as the case with a recent applicant of ours.

So is there some way, I can host those screenshots for a more lasting, more archive friendly manner ?

I read that Wes made some photobucket account for sog members, unfortunately screenshots have to go through him to enter, which I'm finy with, but it'll add a delay, and hence an editing of the report post, meaning more work.

So do we have a better alternative to that, for this purpose specific ? :)

Thanks,

//Nicoleise

imo you can also upload the pictures elsewhere or attach them to the thread your posting in. You can upload .jpg directly to the forum.
Your x-fire pictures are stored in: X:\program files\x-fire\screenshots

that, or you just use SWAT4's picture funktion. It's just faster ;)

All you need is the keybind

shot

Yes, I know, i said that already^^

Just make your own Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/register.php) account its free and near unlimited space especially if you only use it for picture like evidence.

Yeah, or you can just press the "/" on the keyboard in game and it'll save the pic directly to your swat4 directory under Content

Depends on the keyboard. My / is on the same key as the 7, over the U and Z (my Z is where your Y is).

Thats why i say bind it to a key :)

Well, yeah I store a local copy of every SS I make, at least for a fair limit of time (My game is on a 100 GB harddrive, so I can keep them for quite some time

When I use the Swat command (Console -> Shot), I cant find the pics anywhere, including the content folder.. So I'm gonna stick to xFire, atleast for a while till I understand SWATs way of working better. It is after all a Sierra product, so not as logic as it could be (e.g. Americas Army - press F9 to take a screenie, it's saved it AmercasArmy\Screenshots :p )

But I was just asking if there were any place on here to upload pictures that would stay archived. But I guess Majid got the closest answer, I think he understood what I meant. :)

I'll make a photobucket account, if it becomes more relevant to me. I asked just as much to get the options clear to everyone :)

Thanks for the info people :)

No problem mate... :)

It's just annoying that my xFire sometimes makes a circus of the screenshots, so I'm left with no evidence... =/ Hasn't done it after I reinstalled though... :)
