Hi Matt...
Couldn't reply in topic, but thanks ! It's just what I had in mind. I'm thinking about, wheather it should be in a new window or not, but I'll use it for a while, before posting any real feedback to that.
But fast work :D
And since we're talking... Is there any way to make the forum seperate smilies from the imagecap, or is in intentional ?
I mean, I agree that smileys shouldn't be overdone, but I dont think 4 is alot. Especially not, if you're quoting in your post as well. Is there any way to seperate it, so it's either unlimited, or even better limited at e.g. 20 (e.g. 5 in op, 6 in your post would be possible. )
Of course it shouldn't be abused, but when talking to people new to a forum, especially when suggesting something to the, like reading the rules, a friendly smiley makes a huge difference, in the way they take the message. :)
And let me know, if I should stop suggesting weird things to you... LOL

EDIT : The Post Monitor - does it auto refresh at some interval ? I really think it'll help in the forums, cause people are able to respond much faster to new users, and eachother, and it's great that you can see a part of the text before clicking. Top job, Matt...
- Ace - sorry to hear about your artistic stunned-ness mate :D However, I think you're forgetting, that you have no true emotions ? lol
:whs:
yes i agree, i feel so........artisticly stunted not being able to express my true emotions through more smileys
translation:
more pretty colours....good thing
:rolleyes::lol:

It doesnt use "Refresh", its a new technology called AJAX, a script that works off the concept of javascript. Basically it means everything is "real time" therefore creating an automated refresh exactly like the chatbox at site. If you view the "post monitor" it will update itself as the posts & threads are made without you doing anything.
Yes I were also thinking it might be better in a "new window" so Ive added that also.
Ill change the smilie limit too for you image lovers :p ...

Thanks Matt... :D you're the man to go to for smileys then :D
I've been using it for a while now, it's perfect ! I really think it'll speed up a conversation, and keep the forum up to date, letting people get answers quickly, etc. :)
Thanks again. :)
but watch it if i see senceless using of the smileys, i will act to it.

Roger on that, Wes. :) I don't mean to be telling people to go crazy with the smileys. That's why I suggested the best option to raise the limit. It's just that when you're explaining a new player something, that can be percieved as a friendly advice with no hard feelings, or like I'm telling him, he's out of his right mind, I really think smileys are a great tool.
And for long explanations = more smileys :D And you kinda know already... If you want a long post, I'm the man to ask.

you just looove messing up happy endings, dont you?
I didn't even know we had a "Post monitor" but i'll check it out :)
Nice suggestion on the increase in smilies. I think maybe the limit should be at least 8 or so. Too many allowed won't bee good, I don't think.

Just as a helpful hint, I've talked to Matt, and the Post Monitor is now in the "Quick Links" menu, since going back to index to get it, was kinda troubbleing. But it's available from there now. :)
That's cool :) Thanks for letting us know ... didn't know that ... I have only used it a few times. Pretty cool ;)

*gasps from the efford of bringing this thread back to life*
Pretty, pretty, pleeeeease :
Can we please - please - raise that image cap to like... 50... 100.. Anyone higher?
Seriously though, it's insanely annoying, especially if you're posting a chatlog or something to that effect.
We're some active mods these days, that will happily respond to posts that are violating the intentions of raising this image cap, since Wes currently can't. :) But can we please raise the limit, somewhere around sky-high? :)
EDIT :
Alternatively, if it can be coded so that the image cap ignores everything in [ quote] tags, that would be a clear winner!! :)
i never see the need to use more that 5 smileys... unless making an essay on one post...
wich i hardly do that anyways unless its somthing im interested in or expressing my views.

The problem is that it also counts what's in quote tags, so if you're quoting another post, you can't use smilies, and even worse ; if you quote an xFire conversation, you have to remove ALOT of smileyes, which tends to make me want to kill myself :D

Nah, it just makes my posts less colourfull... The only thing that stops me is when the forums are lagging and making me double post. It takes roughly 10 minutes for me to post a post then, and when it's at that stage, I stop ;)
