I donno if anyone's mentioned this, but I have an idea...
Why not let approved members have their own GENRE shows (or channels)...
i.e. Element can have Soft Rock, TC can have top 40, I'd grab Classic/Hard Rock, Wes has rap...
(Those are just examples)
----------------------
That way everyone's musical tastes are covered...
Either have different channels to tune in for each or have them timeslotted...Like I know my PC never (or very seldom) turns off so the Rock station, could even be 24/7...
Could even do cheesy voice overs
"You're listening to the Kaatt on SOG Rock! Coming to you from Ontario, Canada but streaming around the world!"
-----
I donno...it's just an idea...

well i was going to say dibs on Rap, But if Wes wants to deal with Rap i would love to see/hear which ones he likes. But Wes if you don't want it then i can handle it for you.:D;)
That is a good Idea Kaatt .......... I try to play any genre I can find but the auto DJ doesn't always do what it's suppose to.
I'm sure we will take that into consideration. :)

Leave it to Element to take the heat for the explanation.
I see what you're saying Kaatt, but it's easier said than done (and in this case impossible). With the Shoutcast server (or any other server for that matter) there is no option of different channels.
Let me put it this way: On your car radio if you choose 100.1 FM, you can't choose sub-channels within it. You can switch to 99.9 or 100.2, but the station you're listening to is 100.1. The same is true with SOG Radio. If you want to listen to another stream you'd have to switch to a new station, as only one stream can broadcast over the server at a time.
Having separate shows would mean training new DJs, getting the new software set up, getting connected with the server, scheduling, etc.
Selected, trained senior members in the clan will provide the service along with a rota of DJ's allowing requests. Unfortunetly at this time there will be only a few DJ's who are leaders or senior members at SOG. However, for you wannabes out there, opportunities will be given to members so they can prepare recordings for broadcast (such as information, tutorials and news) along with their own personal playlists.
If you are interested in wanting some airtime for broadcasting anything you feel (related of course) then please contact Element, Matt or TCTransporter for details.
In an effort to keep things simple right now I'd suggest just recording what you want aired (songs, information, tutorials, news) and then sending it to one of the current DJs, and it will be played.

So like I said, make separate stations
Use different servers and stuff...
That is easier said then done, however, I am willing to try it out if there's enough demand for it. I can host someone, doesn't matter to me, my PC is always on, has been for 3 wks or longer :)

Even if you set up different servers the software can only broadcast one song at a time.
Indeed, ^^^ Well it is a good idea i suppose but each DJ plays as much variety as they can. I would suggest making a playlist for us to air and we could take it in turns to play the request.
However soon, I will be adding "Pop Hour" & "Rock Hour" soon to my broadcast so hopefully you guys will enjoy and tune in then ;)

I do try to play as much variety of music as possible :) What Matt said, if anyone has songs they want to hear send me the playlist and I'll play it when I broadcast.
This Saturday I am off, so I should be able to take requests. I'm also thinking about a Live Broadcast tune in to SOG Radio for any announcements.
Hmm, this is a very good idea. Maybe every radio "station" has their special guest every month then?

I'm sorry, not sure what you are asking.
Not sure if we'll have any "Special Guests" who knows :) Did that answer your question?

Well if someone would record an advert and one of you play it once and a while between songs. maybe that will do. or a conversation to make it feel like someone is accually at the studio.

hmm i was thought that i would be the special guest
I wish there was a way we could do it live, however, we might just have to do something else, PM me if you want to be interviewed for SOG Radio, I'll see what we can do.
This Saturday I'll try to be on at the time I'm actually suppose to be on for request and actually do live adverts if I can. You'll just have to tune in to see what I do.

I agree with you. This is vety good idea!
Ye, i like this idea vety much too :D
I don't understand why it can't work...Install several modules on different servers...
Take a step back and look at it broadly.
It could work, just would take some time to get it alll worked out. We could also play diff. genres at diff. times, for ex. set rock to play from 12pmGMT-2pmGMT or something.
Yeah, thats what I meant origionally...
I will talk to Matt, and Element and see what we can do.
lol Yay!...lol...only took 4 pages of posts! hahahhahaha
Yeah, sorry about that, at that time my mind was probably ............. :p:D
BTW: My 1600th Post :p
Goood work Ace, er T-ace, er TC....TC...I meant to say Ace the first....wait....
lol Kaatt :) .................. :p
Is it possible to show the song that is currently being played?
I hear a lot of music which have a good sound but I don't know artist or number.
