What Genre/Type of music do you prefer?

Please Vote, and leave a comment on this. The more feedback we get the more songs, and better selection we'll have for requests.

I'll go first.

I prefer contemporary christian music, but I'll listen to any genre/type of music.

Pop Music all the way for me, but that includes alot of genres as I like contemporary music (usually top 40). So really anything I listen to whether it rap, RnB or rock its all liked here :)

However if it dont have a tune, its not my style. One i do hate is my girlfriends favourite: Heavy Metal :o I dont class "shouting" as music lol

pff, better heavy metal than rap :P xD

However, the best is still: Silence^^

If music, then its important that its entertaining me. The genre doesnt matter, it has to be funny or interesting.

I listen to a lot of different music. Variation and mixing of styles is bliss . Remixes of classical pieces, club remixes of 60's music and so forth are high on my list. Techno, trance, country, disco, rock, pop, RnB, metal, happy hardcore, alternative, opera, anime music and so forth. Anything with a nice sound to it where the melody, singer, instruments and sound works together in harmony. I find something I like in almost every genre.

I didnt vote, because what do you class Brian Eno as? Or Pink Floyd, Bowie, My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Beethoven, Nine Inch Nails, Bjork, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, etc. There are so many sub-categories of every kind of music that you would need dozens of categories to vote on, and not just one vote for one genre.

One thing I would say though - no f**king RnB!!!! Lamest music known to man. Seriously, Lamest Ever.

At least we could add 'Grunge' as a category, eh?

PS I realise a lot of our members are too young to know about any other music than what the mainstream rams down their throats (Gwen Stefani?!? Akon??!? WTF???) so they wont recognise most of the people I listed, but trust me people - RnB sucks ass. Really, really bites the big one.

Actually mate I like Pop music which I would think half of that comes under ^^^ ;)

When or If you tune into my radio broadcast, you will hear "todays best mix" of the songs which are prodominently pop from all the decades and contemporary music. You will also hear the odd song from other genres which gives it variety. However I agree with you mate, RnB is not my favourite music myself but I will listen to anything however that doesnt mean I like it :p

Ziggy72
03-08-07, 10:17 PM
Nick Cave pop music?! I think not :D And yes, you'll pretty much have to put some RnB on for the young 'uns who dont know any better, it's unavoidable. Tragic, but unavoidable.

I vote Beethoven's 9th!!

Were is the Opera section ;)

Selena
06-08-07, 12:03 AM
Ooooh, opera. I actually really enjoy the music where opera is integrated into other genres... Like "Nightwish - Phantom of the opera" and "Warren G feat. Sissel Kyrkjebo - Prince Igor" works really well. Also "Bond" who mixes classical music with techno beats is such a pleasure to listen to. I recommend "Bond - Allegretto". Of course, I like these genres on their own as well.

I heard Gwen Steffani and Akon mentioned earlier. I really like "Akon - Mr. Lonely" and some of Gwen's songs... I don't really see them in the hip hop genres... They are more pop'ish.

I can't help it, but I have to promote Sissel Kyrkjebø a little... I like her voice and she's striving to make it in the US. Go Sissel! You can download some of her music there. (http://www.sissel.cc/listen2sissel.html) I remember was digging her music when I was younger (I totally hate her dialect, but I'll live).

Japanese music!!!

I think I already asked Matt about uploading music, but he said he can choose radio music from a database you cannot edit. So I guess if there's no JP-section in the database I won't be able to hear what I want...shish. :p

As per usual, I agree with my bro, and have skipped the voting process. But I will back him up on th 'RnB' is p*** point. 'RnB' to most people is crap like Gwen Stefani, Akon, Rihanna (if that's how it's spelt), Beyonce and other such pop garbage. That's not 'RnB', 'cause while it may have a wee touch of rythym, where is da blues? 'RnB' should be referring to Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Cab Calloway, Etta James, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, etc. At least Trin' seems to have spotted this as the case, 'cause as she said, Gwen and Acorn (no mistype, just showing disrespec', fool!!) are pop pap, not 'RnB'.

Ghost MacRoth
06-08-07, 03:29 PM
'New' don't mean good Seal. It is just a re-hash of what has gone before, but with all the talent and feelings sucked out to create pop pap that is so bland it is indestinguishable from it's competition. That applies more so to the 'RnB' s**t that is floating around the toilet bowl of pop than any other purile p**h that's out now.

LMFAO! but then again they are making millions of dollars on there single/albums. So i guess people don't mind them at all. ;)

Hey, drug dealers and CEO's of big companies make millions too, don't make them worthwile. All you need in this world to make cash is millions of idiots prepared to swallow the horsesh*t you feed them. It's a lot easier with kids, as they have no experience of what has gone before. Just you wait my young padawan, you'll be saying this same speach some time in the future to some kid who thinks the 'latest' sounds are the best, while you know it's all just an endless repeat of pap.

Thank you all for your thoughts on different Genres of music.

I couldn't think of certain ones, and there are only 10 voting options allowed to put in a poll, otherwise I would have put more.

Thank you all for commenting.
