.50 Cal sniper rifles have been around since 1982, so it's hardly a weapon of the future. They did improve the rifle over the years, but it's nothing new. :)
Well, im not in the weapons too much so youll have to forgive me, but that is a big one.
And i didnt say its the weapon of the future just cos the 50 caliber bullet.
*smiles* I always used the .50 caliber sniper rifle in SWAT3 sniper matches. Miss those days.

Yeah i like those kind of snipers....the ones that when you shoot someone all you can see is there feet when they fly back.:D

Alright, knuckleheads, the much expected Lucy comments is ready to rock:
The m107 isn't anywhere near what i would refer to as the "Rifle of the future" and neither a "Super Sniper". It's large form and heavy weight makes it a challenging weapon to carry around in the field of battle, therefore the sniper will have to lie in wait for the enemy. Now, a basic rule for the snipers is to never give your position away, and by lying still with this rifle, you're doing just that. I use a Barret myself, but it's heavily modified for beeing a lightweight long-range rifle. And a 50. cal? i got a 50. cal bullet right next to my computer (it looks good). And also: Armorpenetrating. What is "Armor Penetrating" It is when a bullet penetrates armor. BUT, when they say their rifle penetrates armor they mean if it's fired at a vehicle with light armor, and it has to be fired straight at the plate. If a bullet hits an APC all that matters is distance, point of hit, and direction.
Now, the Barret rifles are amongst the best rifles in the world, and the Barret M107 sure thing aint bad. But as some smart Chinese dude once said "A weapon is not more powerful, than the hands wielding it."
Therefore i'd say that the M107 will be a devastating weapon ONLY IF it has a strong sniper, and the weather is clear (you cant fire long distances if you cant even see your own nose because of fog).
Every sniper rifle and weapon in general, has strong sides and weak sides. The M107 is just a rifle with a couple extra strong sides.
