View Full Version : About quick reply
I have a question. It is very important, if no one will answer the world will collapse, time and space will cease to exist.
If you want to make a quick post, in that small frame under last post, you get there some options, like "colors", "insert image" etc. How bout adding there youtube as well? And smilies? I mean, sometimes you have to go -advanced- just so you can click it. I know I can type it instead, but it just would be convenient.
?
I agree with Sierra. It would be highly convenient with both options available in Quick Reply as it's something used rather often on this forum.

I think it's a good suggestion too. ;) I'll see what can be done. :)
you lazy ppl should just learn the BB-codes...
Yes I agree with Tyrope don't use a simple user interface, make the user learn a long list of commands that must be written correctly first time :P
agree with Tyrope in this matter :P

Actually, I agree as well. I already enter the codes manually for most things. :P

YouTube button added.
Smiley menu not added, since it requires extensive reworking across more pages, if it is to function properly (update the smileys as they are changed), which it wont. When I add it, it simply displays an empty menu, and if I define the manually then they wont update when they are changed or updated. :)
You might also on this topic find it usefull to know that shortcuts work in vBulletin too, i.e. bold text is achieved by pressing CTRL + B, with U being underline and I being italic
Thanks Nico. Although....
I guess I'm just alazyman, and I should just learn the BB-codes...
I shouldn'tuse a simple user interface, and learn a long list of commands that must be written correctly first time
I should alsoagree with Tyrope in this matter
Then I will achieve a great and supreme gift, toenter the codes manually for most things
What if I don't want to and prefer the easy way? Not gonna happen...

I do manually type the codes for things I frequently use as well. However, it wouldn't hurt to add those buttons. It would help people familiarize themselves with the codes if they wanted to.

Never mind the fact that i type the codes, i dont even use the quick reply box :P
Never scroll that far down :)
Nah i can see where this would help so its a great idea, pity it cant be completed fully due to code issues but never fear Nico will find a work around, wont you sensi? :)
This is a good idea, I do like a few have some codes and things memorized, however, sometime i want to use a smilie or something I usually don't and have to go to the advance section.
I believe there is a way to add the smilies to the quick reply box, it just may not be as simple as it should be. :(

Adding the entire menu code provides me with an empty selection box, and this is due to the smilies available being loaded as variables early on in the page. This means it has to add the smileys on the showthread.php, but as variables.
I'll digg deeper, don't worry - but I wont promise a solution, because I will only make this if it can work 100%, not 90% :)
lol @ post#9 by sierra, nice use of quotes.
good to see we're improving the website though.. now if only the plan of a new blue skin would be executed...

What plan?
The only plan involving the blue theme that I am aware of is to discontinue supporting it and eventually removing it :p
What Tyrope Said:
now if only the plan of a new blue skin would be executed...
What he meant to say was:
now if only the plan of a new blue skin would be executed...:Gn:
I can get on that for you now Tyrope. :D
:lol2: I doubt the blue skin will be revived. But it's up to the ones who update the site... ;)
The official response to the "blue skin" is:
The blue skin is now no longer supported and gradually being phased out, due to be removed before 2011. However, there will be another "blue skin" implemented before this time yet most likely different to the current design & look.
The reason for this change is because of many upgrades to the website templates coding over the new releases of vbulletin. As a result, the blue skin (created for v3.6) is gradually getting more and more unstable. In addition, new links, features & modules are not being updated on this skin along with the Pro Dark 3.7 skins. This results in a bad viewing experience over the Pro Dark 09 skin (developed for 3.8).
As stated, the non supported skins will likely be removed before the end of 2010.
@Topic: Nicoleise might be able to look at this along with Wes. If not, I shall do so if the guys let me know.
For me it doesn't mather as i don't have the time at the moment to look in this, so it's up to you or nico :) ...
You could ofcourse @ some that are used allot that is possible on the quik reply ...
