As i really like my own job (http://www.sog-team.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13375), and love to do it, i would not change since i can do what i do now, but i am sure many or maybe most of the people not as lucky.

So i want to ask you, what job would you like to do mostly, if it not depends on money.. So if you can choose just want you want, but if you have to do something. Please no joke with "i wanna be a millionaire and do not do nothing".

If we dream a dream world, where all job payed by same money, and everywhere need to work same time, then What is your dream job? and Why it is?.

If i have to be something else, then i would be a bike messenger... :):) hopefully in a very big city :):)...
I feel that job very interesting. Im sure it can be sometimes boring too, and also there are some bad weather days, but if i can do that, it would be fun i think. I always try to be fastest on the roads. Very cool to ride a bike in big traffic and be faster, then any other kind of vehicles. To hang on buses or trucks etc.
Once in real life i had to race with the city Metro, and you can believe me bike was faster (ofc not the same way i move, but need to reach all stops where the train stop, because i didn't know where will the guy stack out, who i want to meet with.

I would have to say... Even though I'm fond of getting into the minds of other people... I think I would have preferred a job where I worked with dogs. Dog Whisperer style, just exclude the humans out of the equation. If I only handled the dogs, and someone else informed humans, then I think that would have been my dream job.

Order, discipline and a focused path to go every day... Heaven. Humans on the other hand, are too spoiled and doesn't appreciate a lot of the simple things in life. Dogs however can give you peace and happiness. :D

Nice video Hidroncs. :D

My dream job would be engineering geologist because i really like the observation of the different kind of rocks or geohazards. There is so many kinds of rocks and rocks are so old that we can learn a lot of these. The earth history is write in them. Geohazards have been, are and will always be present. Understanding the movements of the underground, how it will move and when, its a privilege.

Here is a link of whats Engineering geology (summarised): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineering_geology

I'd like to be a repairer of miscellaneous equipment, because when I have a screwdriver in my hand I look very happy:D, and I can disassemble and reassemble everything:). Sometimes when I need something, I simply invent it.;)

My dream job...The pretender. I don't think I can stick with one job, I'd like to try my hands at all sorts of opportunities that are presented to me.

But as for now I like my job, happy with it, even if the people around me make it not sooooo good at times.

I think I have two equally great desires in terms of what to do with my working life :
Police Officer or running my own company full time.

I'm an electrician, and I'm very much into, and thus very good at, things like intelligent building systems (BMS - Building Management Systems). This could be things like replacing keys by small chips that can be easily tailored to provide the right access, linking this to the lighting installation, and the HVAC system, so an office doesn't have it's lights on and the ventilation going unless that employee has entered the building. It could also be things like "prefetching" an elevator, so you don't have to wait for it, because it's already on it's way to the floor you're on.

Things to enhance comfort and reduce the waste of time and materials.

I already do these things on a daily basic, by being employed in a company that offers these things, almost solely based on my skills in the area, as it's very new and complicated.

Thus I would like to start a company of my own where I offer the programming and designing of such installations. I don't mind being employed if it's in a liberal way, but my current work isn't. I.e. if I work 8 hours extra the previous day, I'm still late, if I arrive 5 minutes after opening hours the next day. It's very one sided, which I'm sick of. I think the only solution to that is to be self employed, so I can decide what my day should look like, and hopefully my employees as I know a few people who are also good at these things and who would love to work with me and vice versa.

I already own and operate one company in my spare time, and if all goes to plan, then in the early part of this year, I'll be operating two more. One of them will be pretty self-containing, I only need to act when there's new business or discontinued business, once the product is sold, I dont need to do much. The other will be a spare time thing whilst I further educate myself, and hopefully after it will be the base of my primary company.

The company I have now is a photographer business and is more of a hobby thing. It's only a company so I can legally work for others and write bills, etc.

So you could say I'm heading for my dream already.

The other part of me would like to be a police officer, primarely in the traffic divisions unmarked video units, because I'd like to make a difference in that way. Sadly, the Police in Denmark is a very poor place to work with poor conditions, where no care is taken of individuals, and it's all about getting good statistics (most tickets written), not nessacarely about dealing with the most dangerous offenses. This causes the police to park at some corner and write people tickets for not wearing seatbelts, due to the high rate of drivers/potential tickets, where as you dont see them driving on the freeway handing out tickets to people who are driving 10 meters behind the car infront at 170kmh, which is a dangerous offense, but also a rare one.

Thus, I know that with my intentions of combatting reckless driving, I would make a very poor policeofficer, and knowing that since our police force is so small, half of the time would be spent on riot control in the capital when ever there's a Cop15 meeting, UN meeting or whatever, where they sent every avaiable unit on up to 16 hour shifts to meet the minimal requirements for manpower.

In addition, a call for backup in Denmark doesn't work like in United States for instance. Most places in US, backup is never far away, and usually if an officer is pulling someone over, dispatch knows about it and makes sure to have avaiable units nearby if there are signs of danger. Here, in my region which is pretty much half of Zealand, 1-2 traffic police cars are on patrol at any time. And we're talking about an area the size of Yellowstone Nat. Park, but populated with something like 100,000 people. Thus, if you come across a situation where you need backup, that backup might be 15 minutes or half an hour away. And you are solo in the car, so your pretty much on your own.

That doesn't mean much in day to day tasks, but should you come across a car chase or another dangerous situation, you can't really do much, because you're the only officer present. That adds to the list of negatives.

Thus, being a police officer is a calling of mine if you will, but not in Denmark. I love to help people, and I have a strong sense of justice, but I also know that I dont need to write a ticket for anything if a simple reminder would do. However, here it's the opposite way around ; you're encouraged to ticket as many drivers as you can, and helping people takes time away from that. I think the guys who control the police force learned so playing some online flash game.

Actually the problem is so beyond logic that the police has now released a "decleration of service", explaining to the public in which incidents the police will respond immediately, "later/when convinient" or "not at all". 10 years ago, and still in most of the world, the "Decleration of Service" would be something like "You call us, and we come by". Sadly it's becomming a greater and greater circus, and I'd rather not be a part of it, even if I'd want to do the job itself.

Well I would like to be a sniper, which you would know if you read my intro :D, or part of an armed response unit. (I'm sure you can see where this is going...). As you have probably figured out by now I like guns, preferably long range but i dont have a problem with getting "Up close and personal". I have wanted to be a sniper for years and that is my primary goal, if not then maybe another front line job in the military and if that doesnt work out either :( then maybe a member of an armed response unit will do. Now those of you from Britain will definately know, maybe some of you others, but the British army have an online game sort of thing where you can get an idea of what army life is like and the job role that best suits you and these are throughlt enjoyable. Especially when you are told that they would love to have you on their team.

Many of you may also be wondering, why? Well thats the simplest part of it all. I enjoy helping people and want to make the world a better place, even if that means losing my own life in the process as after all lifes are for living but if you can improve someone elses you should.

Most of what I wrote will come across to people in different ways. The pacifists may not like it and the militarists may love it but either way i dont mind. It shouldnt matter what other people think about your dreams, even your own family and friends. If there is something you aspire to be you should do everything in your power to reach it and for me that is shooting because in my opinion thats what i do best and would never hesitate in saving someone elses life by giving my own.

And everyone that posted before me you have some interesting jobs that you want, some I have never heard of before, and I hope that if you really want them you will get them.

Interesting thread with interesting posts :D

Let's start for the beggining :p

When I was very young, I wanted to be train driver :D I think that was, because I lived (and still live) very close to our town's train station and I liked trains very much :), but after a while, I noticed how boring it'd be a train driver; they only sit and sit and so on (No offence for train drivers ;)), so it won't be my future job anymore :p

Then, like Nico wants too, I wanted to be a police officer, because their job looks so exciting and interesting... So, loong loong time I dreaming about being a police officer; help people, stop criminals and so on... But still, I've always liked jobs where you help/save/help people and of course it has to be variable job that it won't always be the same (=boring :p), police officer fills all of those requirements, but I STILL wanted something else ...

Soooo... Today I'd like to be a paramedic, as I have seen their job, which looks very very interesting and also challenging in other way :D... So, blaahblaah I don't want to explain every single reason why I want to be paramedic, but after I've finished my lower secondary school, I'll start to study for that job :)

There's my "dream" :D

In short:

a) Store Manager - I am nearly there.... another two steps up the ladder in my current retailler. Always had a passion for business management since an early age, would love this to develop over the years.

b) Police Detective / Firearms Officer - always been a dream job in my eyes but something I quite frankly I dont think Id have the balls for. Enjoy law & order / crime documentaries etc. I think I would do ok at it and would love to progress into C019 (UK equvialent to SWAT) if it worked out. Seem to get a buzz from the whole thing.

c) Car sales Manager - would love to sell cars for Peugeot. A silly job dream really, but I know most of their current range inside out, so why not?

I'm going to be a programmer. I love working with computers and I have extensive knowledge about it :) I think it's good profession and my dad is the programmer, so I can continue his career :)

I'm thinking about being a doctor, too. I really like chemistry and biology. This passion have started when I first time watched "Doctor House".

As doctor and as programmer I can make big money ; P so I rly can't choose between these two. I have good grades in biology, chemistry, maths, IT, physics, so I have lots of capabilities for future.

Now I'm choosing school. I'll rather go to school with biology and chemistry profile, because after it I could go to a medical school or study IT, because on IT profile I wouldn't learn a lot more than on biology and chemist profile :)

But on topic now: I would like to be a florist. I like flowers and I'd love to learn how to make bouquets :)

That looks like a sniper with a possibility to make choices upon your missions. You get orders, you must obey them. Being a soldier isn't always helping people and making world a better place, sometimes it gets ugly and works other way, you must take some serious dirt on your hands. As we speak of some serious business, right? Not private John Doe who drives a truck and delivers potatoes.
I get the people, thinking of honour and stuff, being someone to look up to. But yeah, sometimes it gets not so glorious.
