I've been playing the game with LA mod 1.9 in freeplay with Xfire on and it seems to cause my game to crash to desktop. When I play without Xfire, I get no crashes at all. Multiplayer doesn't seem to be affected by Xfire though. :s Anyone else having this problem?

After all our sacrifices. :(

Kidding. But did you observe any events taking place when this happens within xFire? Such as someone messaging you, a calender reminder or something similar? Or would you say it occurs more randomly?

I know that about 3-4 months ago.. i was playin and when ppl were messaging.. it was starting lagging.. then i went on desktop and 911:FR just closed..

Dunno if you understand and if it helps.. but happened.

No messages or reminders. It happens when I load freeplay. Then it crashes less than a minute or two after it loads. It's not random. It happens every time with Xfire on.

No, that's not it. That never happened for me.

I haven't played it in a while, so haven't had this issue. Odd that it doesn't crash in Multiplayer... :s

Would you happen to be running a 64-bit OS?

I am running 64 bit Vista. I remember reading somewhere about editing a file in the game folder that would reduce the chance of the game crashing but I forgot which file that was. I don't think I edited that file after I installed the game on Vista.

Edit: Found the file and edited it. I ran the game with LA mod 1.9 with Xfire again and I think it worked. The game ran well over 15 minutes and then I exited the game.

xFire has some issues with 64bit processing. Mine wont recognize TSS. <:p

Maybe you could update the thread with the name of the file for future reference, if others should encounter same problem? <:) Thanks.

The file I edited is em4.cfg. As a matter of fact, you quoted the fix from somewhere.

It can happen your Emergency 4 crashes to desktop without an error message.
A code in your configuration file can cause this problem.
To fix this:
Go to your Emergency 4 folder and open em4.cfg (or em4deluxe.cfg) with WordPad.
Search for the following 'var name':
"e4_doocclusion"
Change the value to:
"0"
This change will remove the green shadows in your game.

If you want, you can also download a whole new configuration file:
You can download it from downloads.emergency-planet.com.
If the configuration files don't fix your problems, reinstall Emergency 4 and the latest patch.

I'll close the thread now then, as the problem is solved. <:)
