swat 4 problem

Hi all!
I get crash with swat 4 when i want to join to a server.
I got vista home basic sp1.
nvidia 8500 gt
1gb ram
core 2 duo 2,5 ghz.
I dont run xfire or anything while playing. I can play single,only crashes when i want to join multiplayer.what do i need to do?

In your d://swat4/content/system there's a file called entry.dll cut that out of the folder and put it somewhere else ...

If it's no there then try to run the game as administrator ...

I had the same problem, with the same error message, I did what Wes suggested and run the game as administrator. Hope it helps :)

i have vister as well and i simply press the right mouse button on the program witch i want to start and then i see "start as Administrator" or the like. some progrmas can be started on this way only on my lap.

XP :
(Shift +) rightclick, select "Run As" and select user "Admin".

Vista :
(Shift +) rightclick, select "Run as Administrator".


The (Shift + ) isn't needed for all programs, but it sometimes opens up the option if it's not there when only rightclicking. :)

If running as administrator doesn't help, also try rightclicking the file/shortcut, selecting "Properties", "Compatibility" and put a mark in the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for :" and select "Windows XP SP2" from the drop down list, and hit Apply.

Any1 suggested a re-install of swat4 yet, as i have vista and have never had any issues and i dont need to run as admin or in compatibility mode. made its just a corupt file in the swat install.

Could be but that would also block single player ...

i tryed every mode.Reinstall,xp,administrator,but i cant play multiplayer :S

Do you use some kind of firewall / antivirus, and in that case, which?

Also, please try and click the startbutton, and in the text field type cmd and press enter.

Then type in the following commands :
ipconfig /all [ENTER]
Note the IP of the computer (Usually 192.168.1.101) and the IP of the Gateway (Usually 192.168.1.1). That note of those, and insert them below. I'll insert my examples in the commands, but if there are any differences please use the IP adresses you got on your screen instead.

ping 127.0.0.1 [ENTER]
ping 192.168.1.101 [ENTER]
ping 192.168.1.1 [ENTER]
ping 74.125.67.100 [ENTER]
ping www.google.com [ENTER]

Then please post back the result of each test (you only have to post the IP and one result, not all 3-4 lines of text. E.g. if it looks like this :


c:\>ping 127.0.0.1

Pinging 127.0.0.1 with 32 Bytes of data:
Reply from 127.0.0.1: Bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: Bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: Bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: Bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

Then you only need to post what's highlighted in green, meaning :
127.0.0.1 : <1ms

Please do that for all the tests, so we can verify that ; your software networklayer works as intended, your network card works as intended, your router works as intended, your internet connection works as intended and that your DNS host works as intended.

If you pass all those tests, yet are not able to play Swat4 Multiplayer, then you have narrowed it down to two errorsources :
a) Game Files
b) Traffic blockade - firewall, router or antivirus blocking program or port.


Most likely, I would say you got an agressive firewall, that shuts down Swat4 because it's attemped to get internet access that you didn't grant it. :)

You don't have to post the result of ipconfig /all, that's only for your own reference (to find your IP and gateway adress). You can post the results of the PING tests up in whatever language you like, as it's only numbers, and I assume you use numbers in Hungary too ;)

Like I said, if you can ping all the tests shown in my post above, then you can be absolutely sure your net is fine for the job, and that your problem lies in software or ports - most likely ports. Please try the tests, and then post back. Also, please state any security software you use, for instance :


Firewall : ZoneAlarm
Antivirus : AVG Free 8.0
AntiAdware : Spybot S&D

If you do these things, I'll be much more able to help you. I understand that you didn't have this issue before upgrading, but that doesn't rule out a port issue, for instance the Vista build in firewall could easily have blocked something, just as your firewall would be reinstalled, thus back to scratch. :)

It could be the firewall, but I doubt it. Might be something with the anti-virus software or something conflicting when it's installed that causes this.

is your swat 4 original or you have downloaded it? if u have downloaded , reinstall , don't touch anything and don't run the game,update to 1.1 , apply the 1.1 crack . If you bought it , apply the crack 1.1 , don't run game from cd . this is all the help that I can give :dunno:
