Hi,
maybe it's well known problem but I didn't found it described anywhere.
I noticed that on my computer when the game runs in 1600x1200 resolution, I cannot see any timers. When I change resolution back to 1024x786, timers work perfectly and they reappear instantly.
I have legal cz version with ui partially changed to en by myself (some ini editation - and maybe this could be the reason..).
Any similar experience?

i have the resolution that you want standard but want another for my second screen have fur resolution than i can see what is happening on xf ts and :p
It could be that the new resolution you are trying to set is a different setting then the actual resolution. This can be done in Windows as well. You can set the active resolution of the screen larger then the actual visible resolution. This results in a "scrollable" screen where you move the mouse to the sides and up and down to "scroll" to a different part of the desktop. Maybe that could be it?
-or-
I bought a LCD-TV a few years back and when I hook it up to a Windows XP machine it can't display the correct setting. It says it does, but some of the screen disappears off screen. It's not much, just enough to annoy me :P The only way I solved that was to install Windows Vista instead.. which in my opinion made matters worse by introducing a lesser OS, but that's another story...
Don't know if any of this helps though.. I would re-evaluate the .ini-file and check for any other settings that could supplement or correct the issue.

I use LCD 16:10, so in windows (vista in my case) I have totally different resolution - even the screen ratio. I do not have problems with viewport - I just see the game as it should look, only timers (time to next round, VIP time to kill, etc.) are missing - and only the numbers. There's just empty place. To me it seems that there is some problem in the font of the timer when using large resolution..
However I should try to edit the ini to get back to CZ and check it..
So far thanks!
Hi! I have a monitor with resolution 1440 x 900. In SWAT this resolution isn't exist. I set 1600 x 1200, becouse on 1280 x 1024 I have pixels, and graphic works wrong. All OK, but when I have 1600 x 1200, I haven't a time, which is down on the screen. Can you help me?

It seems, you have another problem on 1280 x 1024 but on 1600 x 1200 it's the same prob. ThaweK, may I ask - what OS (language) do you use? What version of SWAT you have - orig or not, standard english or localized? some kind of gold edition?
I'm just curious, if there can be any connection..
I'll try to figure something out tonight.
I had a polish version, but downloaded from torrent ( problem: YES ). My friend has an original version ( polish ) - I installed it - Problem: YES! ;/.. I tryied to install english version ( patch ) - The problem: YES! ;/
solution: run program in 1024*800. :)
of that fails, tell windows to run it on 1024*800 (or another res that works) then to the ingame settings menu, and put it higher untill it fails, use that one in windows settings and try ingame again, repeat untill no bigger is available/working.

Ok, I resolved problem with 1600x1200 resolution and missing timers. It seems, there is a problem with timer font in this resolution as I mentioned earlier. It does not matter if it is localized version or not. Simple solution is to replace timer font with another functional font:
Open GuiBase.ini from the swat's system directory in notepad.
Find section [STY_TimeDisplay].
Replace lines containing "FontNames=SwatLCD" by "FontNames=SwatLarge".
Run Swat4.
Voila! At least for me, it works..
Btw, presented solution is not fully compatible with lesser resolution - the font SwatLarge is in fact a little larger then the original font and in result some longer texts are not displayed properly, but I don't care..
I hope, UAC won't detect this as kind of hack ;)
EDITED: lol, when joining server it shows message about incompatible GUIBASE.INI and refuses connection..
I was just gonna say, changing that file doesn't allow you connection to servers ...
But it seems you already found out ...

Ok.. I've found an alternate solution finally - modified file SwatGui.ini is not checked during joining the server.
If you don't mind WHITE timer instead of RED, it is possible to replace all occurences of text "sty_timedisplay" in the file SwatGui.ini by some other style, f.e. "sty_creaditsheader".
With this modification, connection to the server is allowed.
Does anyone know, if this can be problem for some UAC checks? Otherwise, I'll have to try it ;)

You have to email the UAC admin team and explain the situation and ask. Prior to that ; do NOT use UAC. :) You'll risk being banned, incase it does look like a cheat, and in that case, getting unbanned is next to impossible. :)
It basically depends if the file you edited is a part of the checksum checks, but I think it is. :)

Ok, now I have it confimed by DExUS, this change is possible and won't be detected as cheat.
So, the possible solution for 1600x1200 resolution to get timers displayed is to replace all occurences of "sty_timedisplay" in the SwatGui.ini by some other style, f.e. "sty_creaditsheader".
It is unicode file, but for notepad it is not a problem..

for some reason when changing the resolution to highest possible the text dissappears from some buttons :s
why does that happen and is there any solution for it?
maybe SWAT doesn't support 16:9?

1600x1200 is a generic resolution in the same aspect as 800x600, just doubled. So it's not 16:9. The display might be, and an easy way to determine if that is the problem is to use graphic card scaling rather than monitor scaling. This will cause items to go out of screen area on a widescreen, but it will show a generic relation between height and width.
I bet this is the font issue though, so I am merging the thread with the existing thread on the topic, where a solution is already posted.
