View Full Version : Battlefield 2 and its future in SOG....
Hi all, with the departure of Gordon as game leader of battlefield 2 its decision time for me/us on wether or not its a good idea for us (well me lol) to put the time/money in to resurrect a server and build a new squad and hopefully team within the battlefield profject.
All i ask is that each of you members here at sog carefully thinks and votes yes or no, i really dont want to see loads of negative comments as it just isnt needed to be honest, a vote in the poll above is all thats really required as it will speak for its self.
Thanks in advance for your co-operation if the numbers are good for yes then i will make the make plans on arranging a server for us to rent, if the vote swings the other way then lol no more said, poll will run for one month from today. ;)

Well i'm getting a "proper" copy of the game very soon. So should be up for some games, hopefully within the next month.
I won't vote just yet, will wait untill I have played some more. Have only played 5 hrs, and haven't made up my mind if I will even enjoy the game or not ;)

in a nutshell if we have enough interest then it would be great for us to have our own server to train in. as i said the vote will speak for itself. im not going to waste money on a server if the interest isnt there. :)

Sure, I'm up for another go at it, I still have the game installed and it should work so if anyone is up for a game sometime let me know. :)

I voted that I'm not bothered either way:
I don't own BF2, yet, but on the other hand though - if it does take off, I'll go out and get the game to bring my support, but as of right now, I can't go out and buy the game, and thus I don't want to guarantee my support nor endourse the server, that I cannot guarantee that I'll be playing on. :)
So basically, I'm fine either way :)
I could toss in a few dollars for a server and give some advice once in awhile. I just don't want to organize or run anything. Don't really have the time. Paul I am still here, so if you need some help just ask.

I will help populate the server should there be one but i probably wouldn't be interested in a joining a squad but if u need bodies to fill the server or to help practice combat on then i would be willing to help out i think. ;)

I've just ordered Bf2... so count me on any sog server, not sure about being on a squad just yet tho... I will probably be very rubbish :p

Well we are a long way off from that point Selena, but it the vote goes the right way i dont mind paying for it, ;)
I still believe we can make somthing out of BF2, even if others dont agree with my belief. :)

I'm playing fairly regularly and i have 2 or 3 servers tht i frequent and only really ever play on these because i know the players are pretty good and have a good rapport with the admins. Alot of players have their Servers tht they stick to and you will have initial issues trying to fill up the server.. from what i've seen you need at least 8 players to get a server running and to pull in other players. Another thing, most of the servers i play at have a quirk "Infantry Only, Cars, Infantry and Transports(No Tank or APC or Attack Helo's allowed) or Squads only no Lone Wolf" all are running with a degree of success but have had time and the player base to sustain 32-64 slot servers on their side.
As i said i dont mind joining the server to help fill it up and pad my KDR on you guys :p but just dont expect to be filling a 64 slot 8 hours a day 7 days a week straight away thts all im saying ;)

well i would help in the filling up the server, but u know how i am with games... my version is not campatible, i have the less-than legal game version :p

voted yes as like deka i got bf2 a wee bit too late, but also with my connection i always got really high pings on the server we had b4 anyway. but if we got a group of guys playing it more often then id sure love to join us and maybe get some acutall playing of the game i spent all those hard earned pounds on :D
I now got my "legite" copy of Bf2... So I will be about on any server that we can get... Though I warn you... I'm pretty pants at it :D

Vote seems to be looking ok atm, the people who voted yes for the squad only and not the server, the vote is for the server + a squad not just a squad. Pointless having a squad and not our own server.
I guess we will see, thankyou to all who voted and replied here. its more than what i think we expected.
@ Tim i thought my vote counted for a 100 but i guess i was wrong, lol :p
