View Full Version : A few piloting tips
Don't fire your missiles as soon as you lock, wait for the pilot to waste his flares then waste him.
If you're tailing an enemy jet don't just point your nose at him, if he makes a sharp turn try to follow his path. In other words fly forwards a bit before making the turn so you stay on him after you finish the manoeuvre.
If you're having trouble with a particularly good pilot, switch to bombing mode while you are chasing him so that he isn't aware he's being tailed. When you get a clean shot switch to your missiles, lock on and waste him.
If you're waiting for a jet stand on the spot where the cockpit will respawn and hold down 'E', don't wait for it to spawn and then press E.
Nice one that covers it the rest i would like to add is practice.
Yeah definitely, it takes a fair bit of practice to know exactly when to release bombs so you hit the target. I still have trouble with that now.
wth? what jets ? lol , defo not about swat here you tolking
no there are talking bout batlefield2
yeah BF2, its a good game but it doesn't last for long IMO
Nice tips dude, they really helped :)

LOL, i thought you guys were talking about Swat4...i was going to hit you guys up with everything i got. But thanks for the tips.:p
thanks for the tips > keep them coming
I have a tip ....... if you haven't flew a copter, or plane in 2-3 wks ....... go on an empty server to practice ........ or just stay away from any team mates, especially if you try to correct a mistake ......... don't over correct :D:p
Earlier before i left for work, Me, Corvette, & Ace was playing BF2, I wanted to fly so corvette let me. Let's just say that he didn't let me fly the next time :p ........ i kept over correcting because of my sensitivity i have my mouse set on.
Also ........ it's also good to be on TS if possible ...... because it's funny hearing their reaction when your on a diff. team and you show them the ground :p.
Its also good to have a low ping when trying to fly
oRrrr we can say, do not hold the shift btn while in a jet, cause you will need it when in a chase xD
does anyone can help me with joy and flying??? i cant assign moves to joy; and i always crash in 5 sec after plane/heli start
i have more than 8 y practice on every flight simulator you can buy; but i cant assing to joy aircraft moves - this is the poblem
Aha... Then... You'll be the SOG pilot when you get your things sorted. Can't help you with the joystick keyconfiguration though.
hmm i will try to make it asap - hmm SOG pilot? i will be as proud as a peacock
dont do it deka!!!! be a land lover and play infantry only ;)
infantry? no thanks i like my hellfire's and death form above :p

That's really strange. I was really good for piloting in Flight simulator or other realistic simulations. But here as simple it appears to be in bf2 as bad I am in it.
Ive also got a few useful tips;
-When following an enemy jet, switch to your bombs and he wont know your trying to lock. Then wait till hes flying straight, get him in your sites, switch to your missiles, lock on and destroy him before he knows whats happened :P.
-When fighting as USMC on Dragon Valley you are at an immeadiate disadvantage. The Chinese J10 can turn quite fast and will own the USMC F35, but there is a way to get around this handicap that not alot of players know :).
To turn the aircraft most novice/ intermediate players will roll in the direction the want to go and pull up. This is all dandy unless your piloting the Sluggish F35 and youve got one of these J10's on your 6. Alot of players underestimate the usefulness of the rudder and afterburner, which when used correctly can make the f35 turn on a dime and even outmanouever the dreaded J10.
To use the "BigTom Escape manouever/ B-TEM" as I have dubbed it, You simply roll about 45 degress in the direction you want to go (instead of ninety), pull up, deploy flares (if locked on to), fire the afterburners and turn the rudder in the same direction at the same time. It takes a while to get the hang of but for Dogfighting J10's and escaping missile locks there is really nothing like it :P. Youll turn on a dime and no J10 pilot will be able to follow you :). Few people know this so your chances are good.
Quick tip: This manouever only works on BF2 as it is nearly impossible to stall the planes. If you try this on Lockon or IL-2 Sturmovik you will fall out of the sky like an anvil :)
Reply and let me know how well the manouever works!
BigTom
Thanks for the tips will try them out :)

I found a joystick helps a lot, for those of you not using one...
Hey,
I completely agree, Joysticks are a godsend. Piloting jets with the mouse feels very unatural and you always feel somewhat "disconnected" from the plane if that makes sense. I find mice are better for helicopters though, I dont know why, just works out better for me that way :)
However, there is an excellent BF2 heli pilot who uses a joystick.

Just goes to show what can be acheived :).
wow that guy is insane and so are his pilot skills
Thats some insane stuff there, excellent pilot. Majid is an excellent pilot in this game as well. And well me, I do a lot of suicide runs to prevent others from capturing hehehe

Hehe, once, my helicopter was in a bad shape and there were alarms crying. I saw a tank at the ground and I crashed me just on itself. :D
I owned it! :)

I must say, none of you are true kamikazi pilots, I bet none of you have made a youtube video on it.

I use keyboard for flying plane and helicopter. Done it so many times Iv'e become quite good with it so I can do the same stuff as with joystick.
But wow, that guy has way too much time in his hands xD. Must taken ages to master those stunts.
Lol, ive never kamikazeed on purpose. A few times ive accidently flown into an enemy chopper or jet i couldnt see an turned right into it.
lol but kamikazes are not welcome
who cares it works :D
