I agree, they shouldnt have released a modern war game and then revert back to older times, it messes it up.

I named a year ago Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare by the acme of development of claotype shooters. It seemed that Infinity Ward brought a formula to perfection, that farther already simply nowhere, that more precisely and completer shooter will not do already. At Activision on that score other opinion appeared expected.

Fifth part was announced over the months after an output Modern Warfare. Doing coming Treyarch, by a pocket umpa-lumpam publisher, which are capable less than for a year to depict though James Bond, though Spaydermen, though shooter about Second world war. At one time they made a cantilever Call of Duty 3 for nine (!) months. But in case with World at War it is needed it was not simply to do «another Call of Duty», and to come forward at least not worse, than Modern Warfare. Coming from these positions, World at War — sure, main disappointment of year. As compared to Modern Warfare it sure, with a ringing rebound step in place.

It's a nice game, what I still don't like in the COD series is that's impossible to choose the weapon at the begining of the mission. I would like to have always the twin barrel shotgun or the pump shotgun but i always have in COD4 a M4 or in COD5 a M1 or something like that...

Really dont like all those Call of duty and medal of honor games in single player. Ai is not so smart. If you just in a sec frm corner got spoted by AI they shooting only at you thats pissing me off very much
But first games of Call of duty and medal of honor are pretty nice in story view... :)
But i like Modernwarfare in multiplayer, still thinking that those perks are just usless stuff, If gun have 5.56 so its shoots like 5.56 but nooo if you got super duper perk with better penetration it gives 5.56 more power i mean wtf is that? over all its fun to play in multiplayer

COD WAW is way too close to COD 2 for my tastes. I think they should've stayed with the 'present' era instead of going back to WWII. We've got enough WWII games out there.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was done by someone else and that's why there was a change, now the ones who made COD 1,2 has now made COD: 5

Not really m8
CoD 1, 2, MW(4) and MW2(6) are all developed by Infinity Ward which is the best CoD developer so far.
The missing parts of the full CoD series list are CoD3 and CoD WaW(5) are developed by another studio which is Treyarch.

By the way Infinity Ward and Treyarch both belong to Activision the CoD series owner and publisher but still there are large differences between the CoDs they make. :)

Oh I didn't know that... so basically a different "Department", if you will, made the certain sequels of the COD series, and it makes sense if they are different in style, etc... giving that they have different Producers, etc...

Still haven't played COD:Waw, if I do at all it'll be on 360 not my PC, don't think it can handle it atm.

Ah yes, Call of Duty - World at War. :D

I bought it along with my brother when we were exploring our game store for "new challenges". He brought up the game and showed me the box's back:

Settled in WW2? - "I'm fine with that, though I can enjoy pretty any time period."
Realistic graphics? - "You know about me, I don't care that much about it."
Something about a coop-campaign? - "Oh hey, sounds good to me! Let's blast our way to Hitler together! ^^"
You might get a hand on an M1 Garand? - "Oooooh Iz in luv! *.*" (I'm so into this gun in any game, for no reason I love the sound of the ammo clip jumping out after emptying it XD)

(On a sidenote: We also bought "Samurai Warriors 2" for the PC. If you think about getting it, good Lord don't! It's not worth 10€ like we spent :p)

So although pretty expensive, we both bought a copy and headed back home to install it right away. After patching it all up, we started playing the campaign. And wow, it was action right from the beginning! All that shooting and explosions and grenades coming your way...great!! We finished more than half of the campaign when another patch along with a mappack was released. While checking the patchnotes, I recognized only three maps for deathmatch-mode etc. and was like "Sheesh, as I expected, no additional coop-missions." But there was something else interesting: A zombie map.
Since my "Left 4 Dead"-thread you might know that I'm in for some zombie blasting, especially when it's coop-based and survival. Right after shouting "Awesome!" I read further of the notes, saying that the new zombie map (there's already one in the retail version) is unavaiable for german versions! Gniargh!!! *bites table* >.< As the world might already know, Germany is VERY strict about gore and stuff in games, especially containing WW2 and Nazi-content. And of course, me and my brother bought a censored german version. Big sob, followed by another bite into the table. :D

I'm fine with "no limbs flying around when shooting/blasting enemies", and I'm also fine with "no crooked crosses", but an entire coop-survival-mode shooting zombies until your last breath cut out of the game? And you still have to pay the full price? Hello?? -.- Anyway, there are "ways" shown throughout the web to at least unlock the first zombie map for german versions, so I tested it asap. And it was fun! So fun! I was playing with three experienced players and holding ongoing waves of zombies away from us as long as possible, covering my teammates when they had to reload and similiar situations. Which made me feel even more pi**ed off by that german version. *lol* So I ordered three US-copies in an Austrian online shop (1 for me, 2 for both of my brothers since the one who hasn't even tested it yet was all hyped with the zombies XD) and now I'm finally able to enjoy the game at its fullest. As said, I don't need too much gore or crooked crosses, but that mode was worth it. I'm playing the two zombie maps with my brother all over and over again.

To sum it all up:

Call of Duty - World at War campaign & multiplayer options including experience system and unlocking of weapons, skills and equipment by playing: 8/10
Nazi zombie-mode: 11/10
German censorship: somewhere in the negative area I can't count/10

wow being in scotland we dont censor anything really. just stick a note on the box and let folk make their own mind up. Have to say i have never even considered the nazi content thing as it reflects on the german gaming community.

Anyway i have yet to even play this game but after some mixed reviews i think i may just give it a go and make my mind up.

Hey yous know me ill try anything once :P

Wow that was a long, but exciting Review Asakura :D Makes me want to try out the game anyway on my PC and risk crashing it under the pressure of just installing it. :p

BTW: Why you get a german version if the US version was available? Or maybe since you got the US Version online.... maybe that's why... :p

Wow, I didn't know in Germany they censored that kind of stuff. I do'nt blame them though, I wouldn't be too happy if there was a game that let people attack my country.

Oh I thought Germany's strict censorship is already known throughout the gamer world, I guess I was wrong. :p Well yes, after at least two runs of amok connected to videogames (according to investigation and majorly media), censorship now is even worse in Germany. Although crooked crosses have always been deleted because of their origin...at least that's what I think. Reduced violence is supposed to protect children who play such games although they are not old enough to do so.

BTW: Why you get a german version if the US version was available? Or maybe since you got the US Version online.... maybe that's why...

CoD 5 was a spontaneous choice. My brother saw it in that game shop and since it sounded quite interesting, we didn't want to wait for an online shop to deliver the game in a few days if we could buy it now and play right away. We both were expecting less violence and no Nazi-symbols, but both me and my brother don't care much about that. I heard about the Nazi Zombie-mode in the latest patch note as I said, so until then I didn't even know there was a whole coop-mode deactivated in the german version. If I knew that before, I would've never touched the german version of CoD 5. ;)

Oh ok well np, well from now on for games like this if you consider buying, just get the US Copy, even if you have to wait. :p
