View Full Version : Computer problems
Last night while playing bf2 a very loud snapping sound emerged from my computer case. This was very brief and it only happened the one time. I didn't think much of it so i continued to play with no problems. Today I played two rounds of bf2 with no problems and then during the third round things started to go badly. The game froze up and would remain that way until I hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete. At first I thought it was some major lag because when the game froze I would still have sound. Another strange thing is that I don't get the blue screen when this happens. So I'm assuming that it has something to do with hardware. Which is a shame because I don't intend to build my new PC until late January/February 2009. So I may not be able to join you all again in game until this problem is fixed. If the problem gets fixed I will let you all know.
Update: The problem continues to occur after 10 or so minutes of game play.
Well this is sad news here..... the loud snap could have been the mouse falling off the wheel and getting stuck in the main fan.
anyway hope your not "awol" :p
for too long.

Unlucky mate hope you fix it soon :)
There is only one way to deal with. Get a hammer and January/February 2009 come sooner than you think :)
Well it looks like I will be having a longer absence from gaming then anticipated. At this point I don't know when I will be back. As you can see my visits to the forums have become a little more sporadic lately. This is not a bad thing. I am working on other projects at the moment. I will keep you all updated. I really do hope to be back in March.
i can bet its a wire/molex/burg connection got trapped in a fan...
that's the only 'snapping' sound ive ever heard come from a PC lol

The noise was my capacitors on my video card exploding :o

Wha..... :o *Looks for fire extinguisher* .... Well one thing I know is that if something like that explodes then it's time to find an alternative, but if it works for just the "Low" end side of things like surfing, etc... that won't be too bad but even that could do more harm maybe... at least you'd think there is a possibility.
Hope you're able to get it fixed soon, and if you have then hope you can be in game in march as you said, looking forward to owning you again .... :lol2:
Eek... I didn't know capacitors could explode.
I sure hope mine don't :p

It's mid February 2009, planning to build a new PC yet?

there you go blobby. :)
Well its getting to the point were I need to upgrade the PC just to do everyday tasks. So that puts the upgrading at a higher priority now.

it ain't, for 2 reasons:
1)the sweat made it messy
2)the hamster died.
looking for a new not sweating hamster, any volunteers?!
anyway, sad to hear you're gonna be away, longer..
