If you look under the (I think) Help & Tutorials thread on the forum, you'll see that there's a guide to setting up and using Teamspeak. I have to say though, I personally find that it's seldom used in-game, and keybinds seem to be the chosen method of comminication.

Or maybe you and I could set up a 'Use Teamspeak Or Else' petition. :D

I completely agree with you Harry, I'd rather use TS too, ..., to give commands or/and give reports on rooms and so on...plus it be funnier and more personal...it's different when you're just reading some letters on a screen or when you actually hear someones voice :)

I only wish Teamspeak had faster and clearer sound quality. Sometimes it can take a couple seconds before you hear what someone else says. Not too helpful if they were saying 'There's a suspect behind you!'
Also sometimes it's hard to hear what people are saying due to static and feedback.

But it sure beats typing :)

Yeah, maybe you're right but... why we have to download and buy the earphones? =P

Well, I like using TS over keybinds anytime because I don't always remember what button is what keybind, and sometimes i don't have a keybind for what i want to say... and headphones allow for less feedback, as the sound usually won't travel to the mic then.

I've been wondering for a long time now, why TS is the most used VoIP Program, because my personal oppinion is, that Ventrilo is way better.

I think i'd be more on VoIP if it wouldn't be so damn hard to understand everything u say ;) Maybe my english is too bad for translating and figuring out what you could have said because of statics etc... ;)

But i guess i'll give it a new try in the next days

Well, on my TS Server there is NO satic, to my knowledge, so if you're on it and hear static/other noises it's NOT the server, but your side, or it could be the other person that speaks if they have issues with their Mic/PC.

I have considered Ventrilo hosting, however, to be an Authorized Hoster with Ventrilo, like I am with TS, is more expensive.

if you have static its cause of your sound card settings/drivers/phones-microphone backlash or input and output problems with card/PC (usually cause of rupture)

We had ventrillo in the begining, my opinion ts is much beter, but would be even beter when ts3 comes out

I don't think so, because in every other program the quality is very good ;) It's more the combination of "bad mics" and maybe the wrong codec on TS... and of course the different language ;) all that makes it very hard for me to understand everything, but i guess that counts for small talk mostly, commands etc. should be easy to understand =)

@Wes: hmm yea IF ts3 will ever come out, I'm waiting for at least a year now ;) Or are there any news about a new Version? ^^

Only SA and Ops may change Codec Server Side, depends on how permissions are set =) I think the option you mean is just for testing if your mic works. And again, no it's not my soundcard, TS quality isn't the best with every single PC i've ever used (but it's O.K. if the language spoken is your native language) :D But maybe i'm spoiled by Skype xD

I don't wanna goof on TS, it's the best arranged VoIP-Program out there, but as i said, the combination of "bad"-quality (maybe depends on personal impression) maybe "bad"-mics and sometimes bad Codecs makes it very hard for me to follow fast english talk =)

Btw, i just saw that the Codec in TS is Speex 12.3, but i think we could go with Speex 19.5, as far as i know it's way better but doesn't need much more resources... if you already tested it and i'm wrong i'm sorry :D

yeah in skype the quality is much better. but skype is designed to phone and TS for playing beside. skype got a higher bandwith then TS.
if u play only with 4-5 players its no problem in the most cases to use skype, but all ppl need an fast inernet connection.

In my opinion Swat is perfect for talking. Giving commands with the voice, like "Breach that door!" "I'll cover you" or something like that, is more realistic. You can hear the emotions of a person, if he's sarcastic, if he's nervous....

I think that brings the experience to another level.

I hope that someone will give a try :)
